The figure they gave me to save I will more than save, I put 20% but I rarely have the heating on, only when the daughter is down. Then my daily usage is around 35 kWh, 2 units, I also have my heating at 18 degrees.Someone please tell me what money is0

It's a metric meter and yes it really is two units as I check the gas weekly and the electric daily.Someone please tell me what money is0

My usage is heavily dependant on weather outside, last week I was using 60kwh, a milder day and I've used about 36kwh.
So depending on how cold it gets, the target will be doable.4.29kWp Solar system, 45/55 South/West split in cloudy rainy Cumbria.0 -
Not yet. I wonder if they will bother to respond but I will update when I do get a reply. If anyone else has asked hopefully they will add their comments.bristolleedsfan said:littlemoney said:
Will be interesting to see what reply we get. If they don't raise the target, I will not participate. Having read their tips on saving gas I have been doing all this for years to keep costs down. I already wear multiple layers of clothing to keep warm Use heated throws to turn heating off. When I looked at average house usage in UK my own consumption was described as low. Much lower would harm my heatlth.njm123 said:
I've done the same and pointed out to them that their target would endanger my health. With a relatively mild winter I'd have to effectively switch the heating off for the equivalent of 2 weeks over their target period.littlemoney said:
The target I was given is way below last years usage. I keep a speadsheet of consumption so I can check. I have queried their estimate. If nothing changes I won't take part as to get usage to their figure I would probably have hyothermia. I already wear multiple layers to keep warm and my useage is below an average household.badger09 said:
Thanks for the links masonic. Must admit, I'm not really any wiser. I was trying to establish whether the 'historical data' would be based on the previous use in a specific property. If it is, then there's no chance of us reducing our usage below that 'historical data' since previous owners hardly ever had the CH heating on.masonic said:
As per the T&C (my emphasis): "Entrants will have a Personal Target calculated for them by Octopus Energy, based on their “annual quantity” (or AQ) of gas as outlined in Uniform Network Code H3.2.1 (the “Personal Target”). The AQ is calculated by Xoserve and will be based on historical data, recorded before the start of the qualifying period."badger09 said:
I'm curious. What 'historical data' will be used to calculate the 'annual quantity' on which the personal reduction target will be based?masonic said:This might be of interest to anyone using Octopus for gas:I don't know how many gas customers Octopus has, but presumably it is a small fraction of its total ~3m customers, many of whom won't sign up. So the odds of winning and share of the final pot everyone who hits their target gets might be worth the effort of signing up! Shame I don't have a gas supply.
You can find some information from Xoserve about how the AQ is calculated here and here.
It's obviously based on my last annual usage and the usage profile in their links, which doesn't really match mine which is higher use in Nov-March, with a bit in late October and the first half of April depending on the weather and very little in the rest of April to October.
Based on my records it's around 20% lower than what I used in the same period in 2019 and 30% lower than last year when we had some cold snaps. If they don't adjust to a sensible target I'll ignore as my heating is already at the level to keep me warm and manage the needs of the house in avoiding condensation problems.
Have you had a reply ???

Some of us are still waiting for them to even set a target ... The email I had said they are having "issues" with signing people up.1

I had my usage to save but I don't know if it's a weekly target or for the full period that the event runs. If it's weekly then I will save a load more than the 20% I put down to save and if it's the full 12 weeks then I will still save over 20% I put down to save.richard_b_3 said:Some of us are still waiting for them to even set a target ... Have you had a reply ???Reply I had via twitter asking if it was something they intend replying about "we're just doing a bit of investigating behind the scenes but will absolutely be back this week"Someone else posted this "The response I got was that you’re looking into adding a way of changing it - but you already have that button on the site. I’ve provided a realistic estimate in a number of different ways. surely you guys can change this manually? been trying to get an answer for a week"
