I think there is a conflict of interest between MSE and moneysupermarket.
From now on I'll view their energy "BLAGS" with a dose of cynicism.

    How it works

We take the hard work out of being an energy tart. Come on board, tell us what your current gas and electric tariff is and we'll tell you, if you're overpaying or not. Then, as many tariffs are only cheap in the short-term, we'll monitor the market for cheaper ones and email you when you should switch.

Did any EDF customers receive an email from MSE two weeks ago telling them to change to the MSM deal? Or not, as MSE would have made nothing out of it.

EDF customers who registered for the MSM collective switch will have received an email from MSM once the collective switch was run. The collective switch registration was closed before the winner and their prices were known. Therefore MSE could not have told EDF customers about the tariff in a time frame where they could have signed up for it.

What is odd is that the tariff was relaunched after the collective switch, with the same name, only available via broker sites and not available to current EDF customers.

I dont recall MSE highlighting the fact that there was a MSM collective switch going on and that everyone should register for it.

    - MSM were (and still are) happy to take people not registered. Indeed EDF are now happily telling people to apply for it through MSM.

    - MSE knew about the MSM deal.

    - MSE knew their own deal excluded existing EDF customers

    - MSE could have put the MSM deal (that existing EDF customers could have taken advantage of) in their weekly newsletter two weeks ago but chose not to.

Even existing customers as MSE are saying existing EDF customers who apply for the switch will be rejected?

That's because the editorial independence no longer applies, and is no longer independent from commercial objectives. Otherwise they would have done.

I think that is just MSE gibberish.
No one but EDF can reject your application.
And why would they? Why kick out customers who WANT to stay with them for another year with heavy penalties if they decide to go before that time? And how could MSE be given power to stop EDF from keeping EDF customers in house?
We will see what happen in the next few days...

Well I have applied to switch to it via the MSE energy club and MSM collective switch link so will see if either of them achieves anything.
