EDF special tariff not for EDF customers?
Comments
-
HI CashStrapped
Just to clear up, the exclusive EDF tariff currently available on Cheap Energy Club was only launched at 9am on Friday. It is only open to users who are switching to another provider from EDF.
I understand that in late April/early May, MoneySuperMarket were running a collective with EDF which is priced at the same level as the tariff on Cheap Energy Club (and this was at the time available for EDF customers.
I hope that helps.
1) I'm sure MSE has run campaigns previously about giving existing customers the same deals as new customers.
2) Why didn't MSE promote/email out the MSM deal while it was open to existing customers? Ah yes......because you weren't making money out of it. It can't have missed your attention that the Cheap Energy Club deal is actually that MSM deal, minus existing customers.
3) Where has all the MSE transparency gone? Probably the same place as the £80million. Remind me, who now owns MSE? Shame on this site.illegitimi non carborundum0 -

If that is/was the case, as froggit states above, why did moneysavingexpert not bring the MSM collective switch to the attention of it's user base.
If these collective switches become more common, and it unfortunately seems that way, bringing them to the attention of the public should be something I would expect moneysavingexpert would/should do as a priority. If you did post information about it, it did not seem to be very prominent.
Just to clarify, I say unfortunate, as it seems these collective switches are becoming a way for energy companies to offer their cheapest deals to a very limited section of the public (not even available to existing customers) for very short periods. While no doubt claiming how quickly they have passed on price reductions.0 -
^^^^^^^^ this.
In the old days, one would expect an independent money saving site like MSE to regularly flag up these collective deals as and when they are released.
But obviously money talks nowadays. Time for everyone to find a new independent money saving site.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
Hi KTF
I'm afraid that as you're already with EDF, you switch application submitted through Cheap Energy Club will be rejected.
EDF told me on Friday 6 May I could transfer to Simply Fixed May 2017,they knew I was an existing customer.
They just told me to do it via CEC or Money supermarket..
So I did .Now Dan is saying I'll be rejected.
Why didn't CEC tell us about the Money supermarket deal before it ran out for existing customers?0 -
Evening,
Im new to this forum and new to the whole energy setup, As I'm about to move out.
And I've been advised to get this deal with EDF "EDF Energy Simply Fixed May17 | Fixed till 31 May 2017"
i don't move in the property until the 1st June,
1/ When is the best time to get the ball rolling with regard to getting this setup i.e.. what date this month,
2/ Am i entitled to this deal as I'm a new customer
3/ When are they going to ask me for a meter reading for both meters as there is nothing on the registration form?
Your help is greatly appreciated

Why didn't CEC tell us about the Money supermarket deal before it ran out for existing customers?MSE's blagged cheap energy at 2011 prices - typical saving £340/yr
It launches FRIDAY at 9am. You get it via our Cheap Energy Club comparison, which means you can double-check it is your cheapest, as rates vary with use and region. If you're new to Cheap Energy Club, sign up now and we'll email you on Friday. Otherwise (and for existing members) set a calendar reminder in Outlook/iPhone or Google/Android.
If subscribers' savings were a priority (not getting their cut from EDF) then why there was no warning message for EDF customers? Something like: if you are already with EDF, ACT NOW.
And to people telling it was on MSM and required to sign up to some special list - how on earth was I supposed to know that? Maybe I put too much trust into MSE but from the other side am I required to register everywhere and to search through every site?
As a principle, if my "switch" get rejected then I will switch away from EDF and will use other cashback provider in the process. EDF will lose their customer and only recently they have installed smart meters in my property.
On a side note: as this deal is not so special for many folks on here, I don't think that 25000 available slots is going to be filled by switchers (just received this week email and it states that 20000 slots are still available...). I understand MSE didn't want to lose their cut for "selling" the deal to existing customers due to relatively limited number of slots - they really wanted to get 25000 x £30 hence decision to keep current EDF customers out of the loop. Not nice...0 -
I see the weekly email now mentions is not available for non-edf customers.
I have not heard anything from them since I put my switch application in on Friday so I will give it a few days then call them up and see how my switch as an existing customer is going...
I see the official edf representative hasn't strayed into this thread either to comment. Funny that.0 -
so last Wednesday (4th May) MSE sent out their weekly email stating:
The email doesn't say anything about the offer (starting ON FRIDAY) that it is already available via MSM.

Don't waste your time hoping they will process your switch, I wasted two hours at the weekend. They won't budge. Switch elsewhere.Congratulations Froggitt, you’re on the way to saving £302.28 a year on your energy bills.
We received the following details for your energy switch and wanted to let you know that we are now processing it. ScottishPower will get in touch within 7-14 days to tell you the date they’ll take over the supply of your energy.
....and that was switching from what looked to be a pretty decent fixed rate Blue Price Promise tarriff.illegitimi non carborundum0
