I'm going to do something similar. Will take off end of November then put back in Jan or Feb.

    Let's hope it's a strategy that works!

We took it off the market for 3 weeks, did some repairs, re-marketed and had an offer within a week, lucky us :)

    Good luck all.

So, after our viewing evening, we had 5 offers in the next 2 days, and are now waiting to ensure everything is ok with the buyers and then we're all go on the paperwork front!

And a few days later we discovered our offer had also been accepted on another flat, so we don't have to go into rented, which I'm SO relieved about.

Just crossing my fingers hard for our buyer to get a mortgage ok and everything, as our flat was valued more than any other 1 bed flat in this block ever has been, so it's a bit of a worry :( We'd really like to be out of here and in the new place before Christmas!

Good luck to all of you still waiting for a buyer, and to those who are off the market for Christmas and going to do it all again next year!

(and I'm off to the 'waiting to exchange' thread, I guess!)

  • Congrats Elfbert and Jox - excellent news. Hope it all goes smoothly for you both.

Small holding and Micky...hope the new year brings some good news. I feel there may be quite a few houses put on the market in January. Good Luck!

We completed yesterday - so officially homeless and living with mum at the moment until our purchase goes through. I didnt want to risk losing our buyers so we broke the chain and moved out. :)

    The things we do...
  • Coming to join you all here! We have only been on the market a couple of weeks, but anticipating that we may be in for a long wait as our house is leasehold and only has 50 years remaining. The freehold is held by the council, and we have the cost for buying it. We know there are lenders that will lend on the basis the the freehold is being purchased along side the house sale. But we are also in first time buyer price range for the area and anticipate them being worried about the lease / freehold situation.

We have had 3 viewings so far. The first one decided to buy the one for sale down the road, for more, but already freehold. The other two where today, so no feed back yet, will have to wait until Monday for that.

Good luck to everyone that has viewings this weekend!
  • We've just had feedback from our viewing on Wed and apparently the road put him off as we're a cul de sac and when you come out he found it difficult apparently!!! I mean to be fair our road and the next road can be awkward but it's not a huge problem I wouldn't of thought!! If he didn't like it I would of rather of had constructive feedback. Oh well, I think we're going to get rid of this estate agent as well because they are and have been pretty useless.
