My husband has been renting his house out since moving in with me because he was unable to sell it, but the tenants have turned out to be a nightmare and he'd like them out. He is thinking of using one of those companies who buy any house as just wants rid of the place, do you have any recommendations?
    Yes, he shouldn't do that.

There is no business model where some middle person gives a vendor the market value of a property and then sells it on at a profit. This would require a constant stream of purchasers daft enough to pay well above market value for something that was hard to shift in the first place, especially with tenants in it!

Your husband can't sell his flat quickly or at a good price while tenanted by people who are visibly unpleasant or unhelpful. If they are particularly difficult, it could take 6 months or more to evict them, no matter what the legalities. He will have to grasp this nettle, because nobody else will.

Sorry, not the usual tone of this thread, but it needs saying as this is a money saving site. :)

I need some support so may join you here if that's ok! Put flat on market beginning of May, had a major declutter and put 3 boxes of my belongings and exercise bike in hubby's van which was then stolen! Had an open day and 19 viewings on the day, had 5 offers and went with the highest one on 25th May, buyers came for 2nd viewing a week later and said they were still happy to buy, I put an offer on a house a few days later which was accepted, spent 4 hours at the bank with hubby on Friday sorting out mortgage, call on Saturday from EA saying buyers are nervous about EU referendum and withdrawing their offer! Oh well, let's see what this week brings....very disappointed :(

Oh that is absolutely devastating. Hopefully something comes along soon and you can go ahead with the house you have put an offer in on. :)
  • The price REALLY reflects where it is, so they wouldn't get a house like this for the price if it were located elsewhere.

Rant over....lets see what next week holds x

A year and a half on the market should tell you the price REALLY DOESN'T reflect where it is.[/QUOTE]

The location is putting people off. The price has been dropped 20k in the year and a half. It is right next door to a club...it is not the money, it is the location. If I drop it any further then people will be suspicious that we are trying to sell quickly due to "issues" which is certainly not true.
  • We have a viewing on Thursday.

They have no issues with the club next door either. :)

    Best get cleaning x

    Yay Bonfire! Here's hoping...

No more viewings here so far.
Think it's going to be difficult, the house is lovely, but has a large garden, and is terraced into 4 levels which I think is putting older people off (it's technically a bungalow, which puts younger people off). Oh well, someone will love it eventually!

  • Our garden is too small Fudge.

    Fingers crossed Bonfire.
  • Hello...just checking in.

We have 1 viewing tomorrow and 2 viewings on Saturday. Just had a brand new "built in" oven put in as ours started freezing the food rather than cooking it. Weve also had our hall and stairs recarpeted. Only cost £130 but its made a great difference. The EA (mentioned before -idiot) walked Bitumen all through our house as he was visiting the day our roads were being done and i tried everything to get it out of the carpet.
  • What a donkey!

    Great loads of viewings.

Smallholding - think you need some of my garden transplanting to yours!
Bonfire - good number of viewings, here's hoping! And I'd be pretty annoyed with the EA about that!
