We had a couple of viewings at the weekend. One couple really liked it, but it is too far for them to commute to work. The other couple, FTB's and think they are looking for something that is already to move in to, show home type thing. We definitely aren't that, but that is reflected in the price. The other problem is that the local are has loads of 3 beds on the market. So frustrating, waiting.

Surely they could have worked that out without actually viewing?

Many will be waiting to see how the markets react from Wednesday, I certainly am not going to book any more viewings until the dust settles, but who knows how long the turmoil will last!

Nearly all property purchases involve some sort of compromise. If the house ticked all of their boxes, the longer commute may have been the compromise they were prepared to make. So the house was nice, but not nice enough for them to be prepared to compromised on the commute, so that was the stated issue here.

We looked at a bungalow a few weeks ago. It was further away from the town than we would ideally like. However we looked at the property to see if we liked the property enough for that compromise to be made. As it turned out it was top of our budget but still requiring lots of work to bring it up to scratch. The agent didn't press for why we weren't going to offer, but distance may have been one we'd have given along with condition.

Any viewing that doesn't result in an offer is generally down to not enough of the must-have's being ticked for the compromise to be made IMO.

Exactly what we thought, Google maps make it easy to work these things out.

The ea rang us before, we have a viewing on Saturday. She is an investor ( does that mean BTL?) I will be sending the hubby out with the kids :)

We have viewed a couple of houses that are a bit too far away from the girls school ( I don't drive) but for the right house I would be willing to walk a few mins extra. Annoying though if your the seller I would imagine

We are viewing a property this evening that on first look is a little too far away from the town centre BUT, it looks nice in the pictures on RM and the compromise on distance might be worth making....

Hope you like it, but if you don't the chances are your reason for not offering is 'it's too far from town' and the vendor will be saying, they could see that on Google maps....

There's an art to reading between the lines on what people are telling you.

    Time flies!

Glad to hear no regrets. Thought you'd end up there. You've probably come across the lovely Steve and his dalek, and hopefully tried the Indian Dining Club or 1 The Avenue which do pretty good food.

The overground hasn't been so great lately again - I was off sick for three days this week so luckily missed all the shenanigans on Tuesday morning where they weren't running at all for a couple of hours!

    Enjoy!

    Jo,

No. 1 The Avenue is practically my second home ;)

Unfortunately I haven't seen the dalek yet, I had no idea there was one until I saw your post!

As you say the Overground has been having one of its bad runs, we had the same issues when we were viewing properties a year and a half ago, although its been largely fine since we moved in.

Hopefully things are going a bit better with your sale anyway!
