  • Problem is they'll say "sorry you've still got 2 months of your 12 months contract to run?" I've declined that offer on that basis, was then offered 50% off via the app for 12 months, then 50% off w/o a contract when they called me, now today been offered 60% off for 12 months, still got a fortnight to go so looking forward to their next offer when they start to get desperate to keep me as a customer!!

cancelled last month - latest email offering 60% off any package for 12 months and £75 account credit - almost tempted but to be honest havent really missed sky

Exactly the same for me, I cancelled sky, went to virgin for 10 days, HATED their tivo box (will explain if needed) and received a letter in post today for same offer above. Took out original bundle as only want Sky1 and Atlantic (the sky live chat person has only charged me £8 a month based on the bundle being £20 a month instead of the £9 a month based on £22.50 price on letter? :S) and combined with my £75 credit means I am only paying £1.75 a month :) Happy days all round!!

I have Original and pay £10 on a 50% offer until next month. (no price increase when the Variety and family increased).

The website still quotes £20 , so I wonder how the £22.50 fits in as the email offering 60% off states 'from £9', £22.50 being 40% of £22.50

    Long strory short :

Cancelled in March, had a few phone calls offering me discount packages, said no to all of them.
Bought myself a set top box, only standard channels available,
In the last 2 days had 2 phone calls from Sky......

What they want me to do is find myself an 'OLD SKY BOX' from friend or family and they will offer me 50% discount on what i was paying before i cancelled !!!

Was paying £62 per month, new offer £33 per month ( with old sky box ) !!!!

Me : What if the box is a Sky+ box ( without HD), would you still charge me for HD ?
Sky: Erm ....... no ..... the new offer would be £29 per month .
    Me: Eh !!!! but Sky HD is £10 per month !!! £33 minus £10 is £23 !!!
Sky: It doesnt work like that.
Me: What if this ' Old Sky Box' does not work properly ?
    Sky: Hopefully it will !!!
Me: How much do you think an 'Old Sky Box' would be from a second hand shop ? ( lad from sky still hasnt twigged that im winding him up) !!
Sky: Erm .... maybe between £40 and £100, but dont take my word for it.
Me: So you want me to find myself an ' Old Sky box ' from somewhere and you'll only charge me £33 a month !!!!
Sky: I know it sounds strange, but we have stopped sending out new boxes.
Me: I get a new dish and cables? Yes? What if the 'old sky box' doesnt work with the new dish and cables ?
Sky: We will send an engineer out to make sure it does work.
Me: How long would you give me to look for this 'old sky box' ?
Sky: We can give you a couple of weeks.

After 20 mins of leading him on, I had to tell him I'd been winding him up all the time (poor lad).

    Me: No thank you !!!
  • My Sky package (Movies & Multiroom) was going to go up to £62 a month from 1 Oct. I called at the end of Aug and stated I couldn't afford that and would like to cancel. The best I was offered on the phone was 10% for 10 months. I proceeded with the cancellation.

Within two days of the phone conversation, I was offered 50% for 12 months via the "my account" on the sky box. As I still had 28 days to run, I waited. Five days later, the discount was now 60% for 12 months. I accepted this offer, although I've ditched the multiroom as nobody used it, and now pay £20 a month for the movies package which I'm happy with.
  • Also looking for cheaper option. If the 31 days cancellation date comes and goes will the sky+box work well as a free view/freesat box with a decent number of channels to use in the hope of better deals to be forthcoming.

I hope that someone has firsthand experience of this query.

Take your viewing card out, and what you are left with will be the channels you can get without a Sky subscription.

You will lose the recording/pause functions etc though, and also won't be able to view any recordings that are left on the box.
  • Thanks for the reply. Not to bad I suppose .. could keep us going till a deal comes along. Did wonder if they would be able to freeze channels or the box if subs cancelled for a while say.

Standard offer at the moment seems to be 60% off IF you wait them out and let the cancellation go thru'. I believe its their "Autumn special " offer to come back to Sky!:rotfl:
Some have reported 60% plus account credit after they have been switched off for a period of time - depends how much you are missing the Premier League/Grand Prix or whatever!

What happens if you let the cancellation go through, as I was told by the agent when I cancelled that if I did not do something before the turn off date I would need to come back as a Sky q customer
