The antibiotic idea is good too! Hopefully if I say that one then she would be less likely to keep pressing me to have a drink?
I'm wondering can that be a long term excuse too? I have been asked out recently to friends birthdays and work drinks that I've felt awkward going to cos I knew they would be trying to get me to drink alcohol etc. Me and Mr Pincher are trying not to drink in the hope that it will help us conceive.
Maybe I should just say each time in future either that I can't handle my drink any more cos of hangovers and have to work in the morning (not that far from the truth actually!) or if with friends who are more pushy that I'm on antibiotics for urinary tract infection / ear infection / toothache. Guess I will have to come up with a new infection every couple month if I want a hope of a bit of a social life lol0 -
Miss P P, I wouldn't lie, I would just say you were detoxing (which is, in fact, true)That's Numberwang!0

Hiya,
I was due my AF on May 3rd and have taken 2 hpts which were negative. Yesterday i thought AF had arrived but was just spotting. How soon would i be able to get a blood test at docs? I don't want to waste their time but i know that i could be pg and that hpts are not always accurate so early on.
TIA

I'm going out for a night out with a friend soon which will be during my 2ww. Mr Pincher doesn't want anyone to know that we are TTC and I guess I probably don't either. The thing that is worrying me is that I know she will be expecting me to drink and I don't want to risk it just in case so it's making me a little nervous about going. I don't know what excuse to use though without giving it away. Even if I told herthe truth I think she would still pressure me to drink as she is pregnant and says she wants a couple of cocktails even though I have tried to talk her out of it. We used to be best friends but we fell out a year ago so this is our chance to make up so I don't want to offend her or anything. What would you say???
Hi Miss Penny Pincher. I hope I don't get lynched for this, but I have a drink anyway. It could be such a long road, and I really don't want to spend 2 weeks out of every 4 for the next godknows how long watching myself too much. It is in the back of my mind, so I don't get blotto-ed, but my reasoning is that there are plenty of people who have a good drink before they realise they're pregnant.
With regards to your pregnant mate, I would try reminding her what the recommended amount of alcohol is whilst being pregnant. Isn't it something like one small glass of wine? Several cocktails sounds like far too much for me.
One final thing. I wouldn't change the way you normally behave too much to get back a friend who's been gone for a year. You know what the reason was for it, and whether it was something important, but I'm not sure I like the sound of a friend who pressures you and doesn't listen to what you want...Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -

I think that's plenty of time to go to the doctor. I'm not sure if they do bloods straight away, or if they do a urine test first, but I would definately go.Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -
hey with regrds to your night out MISS PP
I would maybe have a drink or two, most of my friends all conceived their children the nights they had a bit too muchto drink
i'm not a drinker and im ttc considered getting legless but then thought no, ill do it naturally
each to their own i would say do what your gut reaction is, dont let your OH tell you no but then at the same time do not let your friends pressurse you.
the more stressed you are is meant to affect your fertility which i think has played a part with me and my fiance but we are just relaxing as we know it will happen just unsure when
at the end of the day im enjoying life at the moment and trying not too stress my two sister in laws are preg and two very good friends are preg too so im just going to chill do some babysitting shortly and just let mother nature do her job
anyway good luck to all who are ttc or who have just got BFP
message back soon

thank you so much for the advice - i really appreciate it! Given me a lot of things to consider.
Jiblets - I will remind her about the sensible limit but I guess she doesn't get to go out much so she sees this as a chance to let her hair down and she doesn't even really want to be pregnant. I'm afraid I've always been a bit of a wimp and not able to stand up to peer pressure much lol
victoria - that's really interesting about you knowing so many people who managed to conceive when drunk! I think you're right about it being important to relax. I wonder if worrying about conceive does affect us? I read the other day that in animals IVF success is practically 100%! Surely that can't be right? Could suggest that conceiving is about more than just physiology though? But thinking stuff like that just makes me worry more lol I hope destressing works for you soon - I think we all deserve the BFP!0 -

I'm the same, I still drink! although it isn't very often, but when I do I usually have quite a few.
When I was pg with my first I was 20 and used to go clubbing, so went out most weekends and got stupidly drunk each time. I didn't find out I was pg till I was 8 wks so was a bit worried as I had fallen over on one occasion, I was so drunk. Everything was fine though, so I don't worry to much about the effects of a few drinks. Obviously IF I fall pg again I will stop drinking for the duration (give or take the odd glass of wine if celebrating anything).
I too, know many people who have concieved on the night they were drunk. One friend's little boy was determined to be born, she and her EX had been having a drink one night after he had visited the kiddies, they ended up in bed. they used a condom and she also went and got the morning after pill.....But still found out 4wks later she was pg!!!!

Hi Miss PP - i would say have a drink, but don't go overboard!
I had given up drink while TTC, however its now day 48 since my last fake AF and still no sign of a true AF and i've not really noticed any EWCM either! so i'm guessing it's going to take a while for my cycle to return so i'm going to enjoy myself for a few months and try and let nature take it's course.
Obviously if i find out i'm pregnant i will stop drinking, but as it only takes me a couple of glasses of wine to get merry i wouldn't be classed as a binge drinker!0 -
Period was a week late.......got my hopes up yet again, literally the minute I got a negative result, got period pains!!!!! Roll on IVF
Good luck to all that are trying x0
