maggiemaybe wrote: »Hello - I've been lurking for a long time, reading all the info on here and trying to learn, but now have a couple of questions please.
We've been TTC for 4 years now with no luck and every month I've had all the CM signs, achy b**bs etc, etc, but in the last year my AF has started to vary between 28 - 45 days. I've learnt on here that apparently your luteal phase is always the same length and can't vary so does that mean that when I ovulate has started to change or that I've stopped altogether?
This month for instance, I've got no aches at all and am now on CD28 but have just started to get all the CM signs
Am thinking about giving up as am now 40 and Mum had early menopause at 41 so I think my time may be up.
Sorry for the long post - any tips gratefully received.
Not sure I can help personally, but I'm sure others will offer you help soon.
I guess it can't do any harm to keep trying, although we all know it does pretty good damage to your psyche. I presume you're under the doctor about this?
Welcome to the thread!Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -

According to the date of your LMP being 6th May and having a 30 day cycle you should ovulate on the 22nd May. Check out the following link for an ovulation calendar.

Thanks so much for that, I've added it to my favourites.
Have got my pre-seed ready so will try extra hard around the 22nd:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Ok, the BDing didn't work this time - AF arrived last Friday. Ah well, onwards and upwards! Here's to next month!Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

Welcome to the thread maggiemaybe! From the sounds of your cycle it sounds like you ovulate at different times of the month like I do.
Does your egg white cervical mucus appear at different times during ur different cycle? For example, around day 14 on a 28 day cycle and around 27 during a 41 day cycle? Apparently luteal phases usually stay the same length e.g. 14 days from cycle to cycle so it's unlikely that you ovulate on CD14 every month if your AF is irregular.
Last month I had a 38 day cycle and ovulated on CD28 (11 day luteal phase) but the month before was a 28 day cycle and I ovulated on CD19 (9 day luteal phase)! My luteal phase did increase by 2 days so it doesn't have to always stay the same but I have been taking agnus castus and B6 purposely to lengthen it.
What I'm trying to say in a long winded way is that you could still be ovulating. An option to measure whether you are is to try ovulation sticks which will give a positive if luteinising hormone is released and then you'd know whether an egg is being released and when. Knowing when you ovulate you could then see if your CM matches the days when the luteinising hormone is released. Charting your temperature is free and would let you which could give a clearer picture of whether and when you are ovulating each month and whether there is enough progesterone being produced.
Have you and your partner been to your doctor? They can also measure these hormones through blood tests and others like FSH which would assess your ovarian reserve.
Good luck maggiemaybe!0 -
Maggiemaybe - just want to add to what Miss Penny Pincher said.
Why don't you buy some cheap menopause sticks from internet (have seen 2.50 quid for 2 sticks - 25mIU) & test your FSH level?
I hope you have seen a GP, if not, then you might want to think about it as you have been TTC for 4yrs & is 40. You & OH should be able to get some help. It might not be you that have a problem, it could be your OH's little swimmers. I would go to the docs quickly if you haven't done so.0 -

(((((((big hugs))))))))) pinkpig. I've got everything crossed for you for this month x
I'm going out for a night out with a friend soon which will be during my 2ww. Mr Pincher doesn't want anyone to know that we are TTC and I guess I probably don't either. The thing that is worrying me is that I know she will be expecting me to drink and I don't want to risk it just in case so it's making me a little nervous about going. I don't know what excuse to use though without giving it away. Even if I told herthe truth I think she would still pressure me to drink as she is pregnant and says she wants a couple of cocktails even though I have tried to talk her out of it. We used to be best friends but we fell out a year ago so this is our chance to make up so I don't want to offend her or anything. What would you say???
I finally bought ovulation sticks - it was a bundle of 100 ovulation sticks and 15 pregnancy sticks for £12.79 so should satisfy my POAS cravings for a few months0 -
Miss PP
Can You maybe drive and say you are in work the next day or have to help your mum/dad/auntie/sister...whoever, just say you don't want to be tired and hungover as you have a busy day ahead, then if you drink non-alcoholic cocktails. it will 'seem' like you are joining her and she won't feel you are being funny with her in any way. You may be able to persuade her to have the non-alcoholic ones too!!!

Thanks Mel! Unfortunately I'm not driving but I will definitely try the work excuse you suggested and drink the non-alcoholic cocktails! I hope I can persuade her!
How long do you have to wait at the moment? I've got around 2 weeks to wait before ovulation - feels like I'm always incessantly waiting! :rolleyes:0 -
Miss PP - could you be on antibiotics for something ?;) toothache, urine infection? The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0
