startingttc wrote: »Okay guys. I really need some help and perspective - I'm going round the twist!!!:o
My AF is due Sunday by my calculations and I am slowly convincing myself that i might be pg. I have had really really sore b**bs (mainly Ni**les) and they are a bit darker in colour than usual. I have also had light cramps, increased discharge and feel like a truck has hit my I am achey and knackered! I don't get this during my cycle normallyI have a niggling feeling as well (but could have invented this)
Anyway - I did a test (silly really as not due till sunday which is 6 days away!) and of course it was BFN. I figure that I can test on Wed and see how that goes....
But it's so hard. I don't know whether to talk to DH about it or whether to hold off until I know definately one way or the other, but I'm going insane keeping it all in my own head.
Any advice gratefully recieved - or just even someone to say I'm not alone...
You're definately not alone. For the last 2 months I convinced myself I was pregnant. Granted I was late a day or two both months but usually I wait till I'm 5 days late at least. I was so convinced I done the tests early. I too found lots of symptoms, my boobs hurt to be touched, I felt very relaxed and happy with myself inside, I just felt I was.
To be honest though I didn't get any symptoms at all with my first pg until I was about 5 weeks then I had all day feeling sick. With my second pg I had no symptoms at all.
If you aren't due until sunday I wouldn't (personally) do another test until friday at the earliest. I know its very hard to control the urge to do one but if you are testing too early you are just wasting tests and getting yourself even more worked up.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I was very overweight when I conceived and DH was slightly over too but somehow we managed to get pregnant the first month of ttc. I was also 33 at the time so obviously not the textbook ideal.
Welcome newbies!
Unlike some, I'm actually underweight. However, I've been on the same weight for approx 10yrs now. Most would say it'll affect TTC, I believe I should be fine as long as I eat healthy. I'm not massively underweight, just slightly under the recommended weightI was once overweight & saw a herbalist to shed some off. I was given some powdery stuff (some really salty stuff!) & exactly 1hr later, I'll be in the toilet for 5mins
After 1 mth, I lost 5kg  but, decided to stop & it took the rest of the year before I lost the remainder 5 kg.
Mrs Boo Boo - if you read the older posts, I think a few posters' DH had low sperm motility. If I remember correctly, pokem02 kindly outlined steps available for those with fertility issues. I also found this fertility guideline from NHS. A quick look says your options are intra-uterine insemination (IUI), IVF then intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI).

I've been recording my CM & pattern from saliva ovulation kit this month. It's been pretty interesting & I found after getting DH to describe what he sees from the little "microscope" he's suddenly shown more interest in TTC!! :j DH says it's another 'golf ball', when will we get the fern lines?? :rotfl: Hopefully, it'll happen for me & all of us this month. :T0 -

I can only say from my point of view and experience that the hormones were fine for me - OK yes I had to inject every day, but it's no different to a diabetic injecting themselves is it? I had acupuncture (privately) the whole way through it, and had no side effects from the hormone treatment.
The egg collection was NOT fun, neither were some of the invasive tests beforehand.
Would I do it all again? You bet:D As DH said this week, it's the best £3000 we've ever spent.
DS now asleep upstairs for a morning nap before we go for a swimming lesson. Ideally we'd like another sibling for him, but we'll see how it goes.
Good luck with it all.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
Which saliva kit did you get? I am going to order one this week and no-one I know has used one before so can't recommend one!
There are 4 different ones.
Focus - 50X lens. Most popular/widely sold I believe.
ISIS - 60x lens
Calista - 67x lens
Ovatel - 54x lens
I bought Ovatel as lens was higher than Focus & it was the cheapest at £14.99. If you want one that looks like lipstick, then go for Focus. Ovatel is slighter bigger but still small. I feel they all works the same way, so couldn't justify an extra £10 for Calista if it doesn't work. A friend bought Focus & she doesn't think it works. But, I saw the fern leaf for 1st time today. It ties in with CM & the calendar/calculations of fertile period. The downside is you don't know the EXACT day you ovulate which you'll get from ovulation sticks.
Basically, it's just a little magnifying glass (Ovatel uses plastic). You put bits of your saliva on the other side of the glass/plastic when you wake up (before you brush your teeth). I do this while I'm still in bed! I supposed, its the same time as if you BBT. Make sure there are no little bubbles. Then wait for 5 mins & look at the other side of the glass. If its little dots or "golf balls" lookalike, it's infertile. If you have dots with lines (fern), then you're fertile.
I actually think if you have a normal magnifying glass, it might works too!I don't have one at home, so can't test my theory.

I have a question for the folic acid takers. Do you bother taking it whilst having AF visit?
I do purely in the hope that nature is winding me up and I am indeed pgDaft I know but if I decide not to take one I can't get on with my day until I do. But then I think that I'm wasting them.
Just wondering what you guys do:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I take them religiously whether AF is here or isn't. It's a supplement that contains B vitamin (B9) which is found in leafy green vege like kale and spinach, orange juice, & enriched grains. It's recommended for you to take 1-3 mths before TTC & during early pregnancy (approx 3 mths) for development of brain & spinal cord. Folic acid is pretty cheap & as your eggs are what you eat (don't MSE here is my opinion), I don't take it purely just to conceive. My mum & sis takes them daily as they have a genetic blood disorder. I'm the lucky one. Once you are pg, get doctor's consultation on dosage. Some people requires more if they had a pregnancy with neural defect. Oh, I also get DH to take them sometimes - read somewhere it can help his fertility0 -
hi, if feel really stupid saying this but:
me and my dh have been ttc for a couple of months now.
i'm stressed,
tired,
convinced i am,
then convinced i'm not,
terrified it'll never happen,
getting symptoms,
wanting to cry quite often,
then when af arrives, count the days till we can try again!
is this normal, or should i go get some prozac???I am the God of HellFire, and I bring you...PEANUTS!0 -
Thanks Static, ovatel was the one I thought I'd go for so have just ordered one now. Along with a fertilityscore kit for OH as he's curious, and he feels left out of all my testing I'm doing for ovulation, and wants some sort of test to do himself so he feels involved lol!
Shelly, I take my folic acid tablets every day even with AF. I don't know if your levels drop down if you don't take them but I like to take them every day and ensure my levels are consistent, just in case it makes a difference in any way.0 -

Hi there,
I feel exactly the same as you if it's any consolation!! We've only been ttc for a short time, but it really can mess with you can't it.
don't worry - i think we all feel like this.
Shelly - i started taking a daily supplement which has folic acid in it and i take it every day. Didn't occur to me to stop during AF.0
