Hi all, I have followed this thread for the past month so thought i would introduce myself :hello: that and the fact i would love some advice from you lovely people :o

My situation is i came off the pill in mid dec last year after 10 years so that me and dh could 'see how it goes' since then i have had two irregular periods and not known where in my cycle i am. My last period started 22nd feb the past four days i have been getting period cramps on and off. Today to rule it out i decided to do a hpt and to my complete shock it was positive  i have since done a 2nd hpt and again it was positive however the line was slightly lighter but this could have been because i used a different brand. The reason i am so shocked is because i have had no symptoms of pregnancy execpt slightly tender breasts last night and with the period cramps i keep thinking af will appear.

Any advise would be most grateful

    Hi princess 81

They say that any line no matter how faint is a positive for pregnancy. The differences in colour could be due to different brands as you say or just the different concentration of the pregnancy hormone in your urine. The fact that you used different brands could also mean that the tests have a different sensitivity and one picks up lower concentrations than the other.

I would say take it that you are pregnant and take another test with your morning urine tomorrow and see what it says.

The fact that you have had no symptoms is not uncommon, many women have no symptoms for the first few weeks of pregnancy. The tender breasts is probably the most common.

I found out I was pregnant last week and that was the symptom I had and really the only symptom I have had except I am now getting really tired all the time. As for the AF cramps I had those for a few days as well and kept thinking it would appear but they stopped after a few days.

So congratulations and fingers crossed all goes well.

    Hi All,

Not really ttc at the mo (waiting until debts paid and wedding next september) :o but wanted to say hi as I stumbled upon your thread a couple of weeks ago and found it inspiring :j

The advice you give each other is great and following all the tit bits has introduced me to calculating my cycle and generally getting my body ready. Am currently very overweight but am being spured on to prepare for pregnancy but dieting, eating more fruit and veg (had my 5 a day every day this week, first time EVER!) and i have not smoked for 8 days :j

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice (even tho it wasn't directed at me!) and good luck to all of you ttc, hopefully i'll be back officially posting here next september:T

And following all the trials and let downs you've had, you really are amazing women! :A

Good luck girls and to your boys swimmers :D

When watching some channel 5 programme last night, the issue was raised about chlamydia. They discussed how it is very easy for women to have it without knowing, and how it can have implications for fertility, and likelihood of miscarriage.

Before meeting my husband I had quite a few partners, and I guess this could be a risk for me. Does anyone know anything about getting tested? I'd rather not discuss this with my husband. He knows about my partners, and that's not a problem, but he can be a panic merchant, and I'm quite confident everything will be fine anyway. Any tips?

    Hi,
you can buy a test for chlamydia at a chemist.
tesco pharmacy had them reduced to £2 odd a few weeks ago.
    hope this helps

Ok, so I haven`t read through this thread 100% so sorry if this has been mentioned before..

I have been pregnant twice and both times, it happenned straight away after I had been recommended this position ! Even though I suffer with polycystic ovaries and was told it would be hard for me to concieve.

After your partner has `shot`.. quickly lift your legs into the air (whilst laid on your back), place a pillow under your rear, and squeeze your pelvic floor muscles, stay in this position for a good 5 minutes !!

It`s worked twice for me !!

I have been to the midwife at the doctors surgery last week to get referred to a consultant at the maternity unit. The date I have is 4th December and they got that from using my monthly cycle as my last period was 27th Feb and my cycle is 29 days. It is likely yours will be round the same time with your last period on the 22.

    Fingers crossed for you!

Are there any ttc'ers out there who are overweight? :o I am about 2 stone overweight but myself and OH have been trying to eat more healthy and do more exercise (we go swimming 3 times a week). I was just wondering if anyone lost weight and conceived straight away? Is it a major deal? I know if you are overweight it can cause problems in pregnancy like high blood pressure but does anyone know of or have any proof that it can effect conceiving? Also what kind of things do you eat? I know it sounds like a silly question.... but is there any special foods that aid fertility?
