Sorry to be impatient but do any of you who are using the ov sticks know the answer to this?
My pack just says that you will get a positive reading approx 3 days prior to ovulation, but doesn't say if it only shows up on one day then disappears again or lasts say 2 days? If it's only one day I want to be completely sure if it's a positive when I think it is, rather than wait to see what the next day shows (which is no good if it only lasts one day iyswim!)
Sorry honeypop. I don't know the answer to your ques....yet but thank you for asking coz I'll probably be asking that in the next week or so once AF make its appearance.0 -
Thanks, don't know if I'm any clearer though!! More than anything, I want to know when/if I ovulated so I know when AF is due, as my cycles been all over the place. AF was due last Sun but nothing yet but I know I didn't ovulate (according to the sticks), although last Friday I thought the ov stick said positive but then the next day was back to neg.
I am going to give it 2 more weeks, and if nothing then Doctor wants me to go in to discuss the day 21 test results and I guess we will go from there.0 -
Hi all, just to let you know - same situation here still, though my pmt seems to have passed at least. I'm throwing a party on saturday, so I'll do another test in the morning (which would have me 9 days overdue) and call it a day and have a good ole booze-up in the night when it's negative...
I've got a fortnight off now for easter, so I might make a docs appt for next week to talk to him about this missed period thing - see if he's got any ideas or tips.Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -

You can AFAIK have a +ve on the ovulation stick and still not ovulate, as it measure luteneising hormone, which might surge enough to register on the stick, but not enough to release an egg, particularly if you have PCOS where you develop lots of follicles but nothing with a viable egg (as was my problem first time round). If you know the approximate length of your luteal phase, you could count from the day you got the maybe positive, and add a few days for luck.
If you do start taking drugs to help TTC, they will often give you progesterone to trigger a bleed if you've had an anovulatory cycle and AF isn't making an appearance, so you can start the next cycle of treatment more quickly.0 -
Well, AF seems to be trying to make an appearance today (just about). I'm disappointed, but at least now I know where I stand.
Thanks for your support, everyone. If at first you don't conceive, try, try...

Well - this morning I was due on so I did 3 pregnancy tests (all different brands) and they have a very, very, very faint line on them, which has come up very slowly. I've been trying to concieve for 7 months since an early miscarriage last year and I quite often do the tests but I have not seen any faint marks on the tests before.
In all honesty, I do not feel pregnant - in fact in other months I have been convinced I have been from my symptoms but the tests have all been negative, but this month I do not feel anything.
This month is the first month I have not analysed my cycle (with BBT temperatures etc), in fact we were having a couple of months off as it was stressing me out, so it would be a really nice surprise if I am pregnant. I don't know what to think - I can't really celebrate as I am not 100% sure about the tests (and no symptoms) and from what happened last year I do not want to get my hopes up too early on.
Perhaps I'll try tommorow and see if it gets stronger.
Hope it is going well with you all. x0 -
Congratulations Osian!
I was in the same position 2 weeks ago. I had a faint +ve 3 days before AF due, I just kept testing each morning and the line got darker each day. I was paranoid that one day the line would just disappear. (I'd had an early miscarrige the month before). I've stopped testing now as my boobs are tender and I have a funny taste in my mouth.
Hope everything will b ok for us both. Just keep testing and try to relax.xx0 -
Thank you Lwcus - A big congratulations to you! I have been keeping up with this thread, just don't often post.
I think will just have to test a day at a time and see how it goes. (Lucky I am a bit of a hpt freak, and have a few cheap ones in the cabinet)0 -

Congrats!! :j :T
I had a very faint line when I used a HPT for my second pregnancy. I called my doctor for advice and he said even if its very faint its positive.
When you say the lines have come up slowly, have they appeared in the given time to look at the test? I mean you didn't go back to them 5 minutes later and the line was there?
Oh and just for my own curiosity (I'm nosey) Do you usually test on the day you are due on? I usually wait till I am a few days late.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Hi Shelly - I'm not sure - some sort of shadow comes up before the allocated time (I set a timer just now to do it) and it seems to come up with a more definitate pink shadow as it dries later. I was wondering is it an evaporation line though? - but on the tests I have done in the past (when not pregnant) I have not seen one.
I wa going to get my husband to pee in one of those little pots and see what happens with his urine, if there is any sort of line - but he's having none of it. Last year when I got pregnant the line was so definate and came up so quickly there was no mistake and I felt so different that I knew something was up.
I don't know what to think - I guess we will just have to see what happens.
Shelly - I tend to do a test on the day that I am due on:o - I don't know why, wishful thinking perhaps? Also, I would rather know whats going on sooner than later so that if I do have the 3 miscarriages/ chemical pregnancies in a row I can get it looked at. I just use the ones from the £1 shop (either 3 or 2 in a pack) so I don't feel so guilty about the waste.
Ahhh - I just wish it was all easy. Reading this back - it makes me seem like a crazy person.0
