  • Well...
    just finished reading this thread:j
I am 28 and came off the pill mid February to start ttc. I had my AF 21st to 28th Feb.
I suffered nausea, dizziness, sore nipples, tiredness and slight abdominal pain until I started bleeding lightly on 14th March. This lasted until 16th March.
I saw the doctor because the dizziness was unbearable on tuesday 18th March and she said the bleeding was probably a very early miscarriage and the dizziness was a pregnancy symptom.
    Bit despondant and lost now.
I was told 18 months ago when I had a kidney inf that my uterus was slightlybtilted backwards and I know that my mum also had to take clomid in order to conceive me.
Well that's my story...don't really know where I am in my cycle now and whether last week was a mess up in my cycle or if it really was a very early miscarriage. I'll keep trying for now :T

I sympathise with everybody who has been ttc for months now, a month seems so long when you are ttc x

If it's any consolation princessflea, I found the first few months hardest of all - once I was into the routine of it all I started finding it much easier. I'm only 7 months into the process myself, which isn't that long either I suppose - but it's definately easier now than when I started (even though I've had horrid month with it this month)

:hello: Hello newbie to this thread here.I'll do a bit of an intro and then I do have a couple of questions that you lot may be able to answer.

Me and BF have been together for 4 years and have decided that it is time for us to have kids. If it was up to him i'd be on my 3rd by now, but I'm the one in charge so it's tough!

I'm 27, quite fit and healthy with a normal bmi. I could probably do more excercise, but couldn't we all. My cycle has always been somewhere between 4 1/2 to 6 weeks and really heavy, and I really struggle predicting it. Because of this I was on the pill for years, but I figured it sent me a bit wappy at times so I stopped taking it about a year ago.

Ok so here are the questions:
    1. I suffer from allergies all year round, and take a hayfever tablet every day (only half during the winter) does anyone know which ones are safe during pregnancy? Does anyone use any natural methods insead? I will be going to the docs but my next day off isn't for two weeks so if anyone has any answers it would be nice.

    2. How do you convince your man to do things that may increase his fertility? I have been trying to get BF to take a multi vit etc but he just won't (can't be bothered) do it!!!

    PS Congrats Lovinit!!

Hi, regarding hayfever tablets-i had to stop taking mine (antihistamines) as soon as i got pregnant, they arent safe to use at all. Id ask the gp for advice on this.

Thanks keeley. As i suspected after doing further research I have realised that I will have to stop taking them. Some are safe to take but they are all the ones that don't work for me. I'm going to try the local honey (on toast every morning) and there are some herbal remedies which are safe. I will take advice from my GP but I think this is the case.

On another subject - I have just spent the last few hours with my friend and her 11 week old baby boy. And it has made me even more confident that I'm ready. The scary thing is that she didn't know she was pregnant for 6 months (PCS suffer thought that was the issue) He is such a brilliant baby. I have offered to baby sit next week - so we will see how that goes!!!!

Hi everyone, another one new to this thread.

My story is that I am 39 in 2 weeks. I have had quite a few chemical pregnancies over the years. I went down the fertility test route at 28 just before splitting with ex, and found that there was nothing really wrong - I have endometriosis, but everything was working. They gave me clomid, but split up before it went anywhere. New partner had had a vasectomy, which he had reversed, and at 32 we started trying - we were lucky that the reversal was successful, and he had virtually normal count. We didnt get anywhere and went back down the fertility route and ended up at he IVF clinic. We were waiting for AF to arrive to date he start of IVF when I fell pregnant. I had a small bleed at 8 weeks, but went through to 35 1/2 weeks with no problems then got pre-eclampsia and had to have an emergency cut and shut - my beautiful baby boy was born at 4lb 9oz. We have continued to try ever since for number 2, and fell pregnant again three years ago - but sady lost this one on boxing day at 9 weeks.

We have continued TTC and finally went back to the fertility clinic, although this time to a natural cycle clinic, that works with your own cycle rather than shutting down your system, so a little more gently. We have had 2 attempts, the first was text book, but didnt result in a pregnancy. The second was a disaster, and didnt even result in any eggs.

Last month, AF was really late, complete with all pregnancy symptoms, and had 'something' come away, so guessing this was an early mc (I know TMI!!) This month, I have the same symptoms and AF is due Thursday, so trying not to get hopes up!/ We are doing IVF on the next cycle, so I am thinking really positive thoughts and hoping that somewhere in it all, I will get pregnant again.

Such good news for those getting positive results, Hopefully the baby dust is settling on this thread, and we will all get the results we want.

Oh, and to join the debate on sperm, hubby has to abstain for 7 days before egg collection, so I dont think that they will start dying that early - for what its worth!!!!!!!!!

Should go to bed - up reading this thread from the start!!

  • Hi all,

    Can I join you?

I'm 26 and have a long history of gynae issues, thankfully now resolved but DH has a vvvv low sperm count (about 10,000) so we have tried ICSI already, which failed and we were advised because of the count and from what the lab bods said, hubby has poor quality swimmers too, not to try ICSI again but to go down the route of donor IVF or donor IUI.
We've got out first private appt in mid April, which is frustrating because we have been waiting for this since Jan and they've cancelled our appt twice. We are going private at the clinic which did our NHS treatment but we've not been overly pleased with them, the reception staff are rude, the nurses are OK but are just so busy they don't have time to answer the inevitable questions you have and on our NHS cycle we never saw the same dr twice. I also has OHSS but they left me to it with no instructions, it was my GP who really helped in that situation.

We really want to get started asap, we've had loads of tests done and I am down as an egg sharer too at another hospital but I've been waiting nearly a year and no recipient match so far.

We'd like to go down the DIUI (DI) route with Clomid rather than injectables but we are amazed by the price differences between clinics, it's just crazy, one is £1700 and another is £500!!

I did call our normal clinic today and asked how long after the consultation can we go ahead and they said 3-5 months!! Neither DH or I want to wait that long, especially if we are going privately for treatment.

Has anyone here had DI or similar?

    Nice to meet you all!

    Hi DM, welcome.
I'm afraid I know very little about fertility treatment, but I know others on here have had experience with it, and I'm sure they'll be along to share soon...

hi all - hubby and I are going to start ttc concieve next cycle. just a quick question - on the ovulation calculator online it gives my fertile days as from 27th March - 1st April (for this cycle). Does that mean that the 27th is the day the egg is there ready to be fertilized )so in theory, sperm from 3 days before could fertilise it?) or that the 27th is the earliest day that sperm could survive to fertilise an egg - ie egg is there on 30th?
    Thank you and good luck!

Hi Roxie. On mine it's got little bunnies (oh my lord) for fertile days, which start faint and get darker, it then has ov written on the actual day of predicted ovulation, which tends to be 2 days after the first fertile day. If yours is a little confusing I find mymonthlycycles.com nice and clear.
