Hi all, thanks for the welcome to the thread. Well depending on how long my cycle is or isnt - at 26 days, I was due today - and a no show. A pregnancy test this am was BFN so obviously either my cycle has gone back to 28 days, or I am another late one like last month???? I just get to the point when I think, if Im not pregnant just start up, AF, so I can get on with trying again - in my case starting the IVF cycle. Good luck to all those waiting for BFY!!!

    Welcome to all newbies!

I thought I'll post this on cervical fluid/cervical mucus (CF/CM) as a fertility indicator as I found myself constantly asking "am I at the eggwhite stage yet?" HTH someone

Cervical fluid = mucus from cervix, produced by estrogen.
Essential as keep sperm alive for up to 5 days, protects it from acidity in vagina, transports sperm to outer wall of fallopian tube for fertilisation.

    Stains on Underwear:
Fertile - leave stain in form of circle.
Non-fertile – Tend to form lines in more of a rectangular shape

    CM Symptoms
Stage 1: Dry / Light Moisture - INFERTILE
After 3-5days of AF, may experience no fluid at all or a small amt of moisture.
Colour: Clear / slightly white but will dry immediately on fingertips
Overall vaginal sensation (OVS): Not wet

Stage 2: Sticky / Gummy- INFERTILE
Becomes sticky for 2-3days. When rubbed, may give small amt of resistance, feels slightly gummy, may even crumble
    Colour: Clear to white
OVS: Small amt of moisture, fluid is still dry & does not feel wet

Stage 3: Creamy / Milky / Lotion like - FERTILE
CF feels more abundant and wet for 2-4 days. Can appear either thick & creamy or hand lotion like & form peaks on fingertips when pulled apart or can be thinner and look milky.
    Colour: white or yellow
    OVS: Wet

Stage 4: Eggwhite like – VERY FERTILE
CF reaches its most fertile stage for 1-5 days. CF will look and have the consistency of eggwhites. It is slippery and if pulled between the fingertips will stretch 1-10 inches.
    Colour: Clear or iridescent
    OVS: Extremely wet

    Stage 5: Dry / Moist / Sticky - INFERTILE
CF will change drastically due to the drop in estrogen & surge of progesterone following O. It can be dry, watery, moist or sticky until end of monthly cycle. Any fluid will dry up quickly on fingertips.
    Colour: No color to white
    OVS: Dry

    TIPS (from previous posts):
    1. Take Robitsun to thin CF, making it easier for the sperm to swim up
    OR
    2. Take grapefruit b/w AF & O, helps EWCM gets into the right consistency

    Good informative post static.
Sadly I can't use CM as an indicator as I don't get CM anymore, not since I had my cervix removed (well most of it)

Hi, i agree about the CM being a good indicator. Mine was slippery/stretchy type when i was ovulating. I became very aware of the changes through out the month.

  • Hi...question cos I'm getting conflicting dates everywhere I look.

I'm looking at ovulation calendars as we're planning on starting ttc in July / August. I just can't quite work out what my cycle length is.
When you say it's x days, do you count the day it starts as being day 1 and the day it starts again as being day 27 / 28 / whatever?? Lots of websites seem to give different answers but don't say how they base the cycle length!!
Like if my last started March 2nd and then again today - I would have said that was a 27 day cycle...But some places count it as 26 days, others as 27.

Anyone able to give me a better idea?????
    Cheers!

hi all. The cervical mucus is a good indicator I found that i was getting loads of the stretchy stuff this month.

This week has been a really weird one, took an ultra sensitive test on Monday, 4 days before AF and it was negative, and really thought that I wasn't pregnant but a few days after I had really tender breasts, not the same as just before AF but as if it is the insides that are really sore and test came up positive. Can't believe it and still can't quite believe that I am this lucky! OH is over the moon and more than a little relieved and proud that his little swimmers did the business! I made him drink coffee half an hour before as I had read that it helps wake the sperm up!

So after 6 months we have had a positive and I am so happy and scared and every other emotion under the sun.

    xx
  • Congratulations poppyjoe! That's great news. I wish you, bump and hubbie all the best. Great to hear good news :D

well, we are 'officially' ttc now. let's hope that we are as lucky as you poppyjoe.
  • congrats poppyjoe!!!!
