Thanks Shelly - I will give my doctor a ring - not sure if they do call backs but I will ask. I'm one of those types who always feel awkward about bothering them and visit as little as possible so a call back would be ideal!

If they don't do call backs just ask if a doctor is loitering round reception or maybe even a nurse.
Or maybe they have an e-mail addy you use for advice  Worth asking.

Sadly I can't use CM as an indicator as I don't get CM anymore, not since I had my cervix removed (well most of it)

I was thinking & feeling sorry that you can't use CM as an indicator anymore. I know you've been trying for a long time. I've only just started & already felt it's sooooo long. Just being nosey, what methods are you using to confirm/catch your O days? You mentioned using O sticks but only for 1 mth but got neg the whole month. I read somewhere someone did an "experiment". She used to POAS at 11am but had neg. So, she decided to POAS a few times a day but using 2-3pm as the "main record". 2-3pm record had neg.

On CD18 12noon had slight faint line, then slightly stronger but still faint at 5pm, 10pm, CD19 9am, then 12noon back to slight fainter. By 2pm, the line faded completely!! So, her experiment tells her she's got a short sharp surge & it tends to start mid-afternoon & not morning.

I'm not using O stick so can't comment on it but wanted to share what I read. HTH anyone that's been getting neg on their O sticks!

Can/have you use cervix position as an indicator? I understand the CM not possible but presumably, cervix position would still move during fertile/infertile period?
Also, with fertile CM role as a sperm friendly "device", have you used or thought of using Pre-seed as a subsitute?

Sorry, these are some personal questions & you can ignore it. ;)

    Hi static.

To be honest I don't do anything to catch my O days. I can usually tell when I O as I get a little bit of pain.
This month we have been really good and having sex every 2-3 days without fail. AF is due anyday now. (not really sure when tho as last month I was a few days late)
I know the reason I don't do anything to work out my O days is because in the back of my mind I know that if we aren't pregnant by Aug we are getting help. I'd ike it to happen naturally but all is not lost if it doesn't.

I decided last night though to record more accurately my AF so I can try to work out O and make sure our "sex nights" :D fall on the day of O.

I'll email my consultant and ask about cervix position. I'm not 100% sure if the bit thats left could be used as its a lot shorter than it was and due to the surgery its heavily scarred, so not sure if it still behaves like a cervix should.

Shelly, I'm assuming you do know using O pain as as fertility sign is not as strong indicator as using OPK, CM, CP? I'm not disputing these secondary signs but you could potentially interpret some other pain as O pain?

It's excellent you can BD 2-3days!! Wow! I'll be happy if we can BD once every fortnight! :D

Oh, someone mentioned using herbal remedies to aid conception. Some info here to those interested. You can get these from holland & barratt I think.

    http://www.womenfitness.net/conceiving_naturally.htm

I find myself currently trying to find ways to increase my & DH fertility rate but just realised EPO aid fertility but taking after conception would have adverse effect! Anyone here knows or have a list of what not to do/eat after pg? I'll start...

    Not to take after BFP
    1. Primrose Oil
Though it facilitates fertilisation by making the CM more hospitable for sperm motility, taking after conception can cause uterine contractions & lead to premature abortions.

    2. Nutmeg
Can cause miscarriage in large doses

    3. Ginseng
Overall growth and development is impaired

    4. Iron supplements (unless anaemic)
Could suffer high blood pressure and deliver smaller babies.
Get iron from diet instead of supplements. (Apparently this contradict past recommendation that iron promotes growth of placenta & baby)

    5. Mercury fish
swordfish, tilefish, king mackerel, shark, or Wisconsin Muskie. Any raw fish or shellfish & smoked should be avoided.
If taken can long-term neurological issues in babies - brain defects, learning disabilities, and nervous system dysfunction

    6. Pasturised cheese (??)

Herbs that aid early pg development (I think these would be useful the moment we get the BFP! :D )
    1. Black Haw
used in the early stages of pregnancy to help prevent miscarriage

    2. Blessed Thistle
used in the latter stages of pregnancy as a liver tonic and builder, as well as a stimulant of blood flow to the mammaries, and used to increase milk production; also reduces hemorrhaging during childbirth

    3. Burdock Root
has a high concentration of vitamins and minerals and is a liver booster

    4. Chamomile
lifts the spirits and calms the nerves, used for digestive disorders during pregnancy, is combined with ginger to help morning sickness, and has a high calcium content as well as an anti-inflammatory aid

    5. Cramp Bark
a remedy to have handy in case of spot bleeding during early stages of pregnancy, and helps prevent miscarriage due to stress and anxiety

    6. Dandelion
greens and root - a high source of vitamins and minerals, aids digestion, nourishes and tones the system, diuretic, useful for fatigue and exhaustion, liver booster

    7. Ginger Root
used for morning sickness and digestive problems, safe during pregnancy for treating colds, sore throats, and congestion

    8. Kelp
high in vitamins and minerals, aids thyroid

    9. Nettle Leaf
rich in many vitamins and minerals, especially iron, so it is very useful for those suffering from chronic fatigue and exhaustion due to low iron, aids in enriching and stimulating flow of milk; good for use throughout all stages of the pregnancy

    10. Red Raspberry Leaf
tones and nourishes the uterine muscles, rich in vitamins and minerals, enriches and increases milk flow, restores the system after childbirth; good for the entire pregnancy

    11. Spirulina
    high in vitamins and nutrients

Yeah I know that what I think is O pain might not actually be that sometimes, sometimes I don't get the pain at all (like this month)

This is the first month in 4 years of TTC that we have managed to do it every 2-3 days :rotfl: Its been hard work.....if sex can be called hard work! If we haven't wanted to or been very tired we have anyway. I keep nagging hubby that it won't happen unless we have sex regularly and this is the first time we have really tried.

Due AF anyday now so we'll see if it worked :D

Rasberry leaf should be avoided until 3rd trimester as it stimulates the uterus to contract which can lead to miscarrige and preterm babies. It is recommended in the last trimester only in normal pregnancies (not for multiple births or previous history of preterm babies) as it tones and strengthens the uterus.

    hello

Spring has definately sprung in our house! OH is suddenly VERY interested in s*x and my libido has definatly increased as well - all very odd! Good though for ttc - but can there be too much?

Mum introduced me to twinnings raspberry and echineachea tea and I love it, but i have read that raspberry leaf tea is bad for you as it can cause miscarriage, but is what I'm drinking raspberry leaf tea???? Seems daft I know as it contains bits of raspberry and raspberry flavouring, but no leaves in the ingredients list???

all of a sudden there seems to be so many things to think about!

Personally I have been told by 2 fertility doctors on seperate occasions to do it every 2-3 days. So IMO yes, there can be too much :D
Some agree with me, some don't, which is ok.
I personally would rather believe a qualified doctor than what I read on the net or hear from others.

thanks shelly - I thought that doing it too often may effect the quality fo teh sperm. We seem to be settling into it being every second day at the moment which would fit with what you have been told.

Also wondering about supplements. I'm generally quite healthy and not overweight and do take a multivitamin daily supplement with iron - but this contains Vit A, which I am meant to avoid if TTC? What supplements can people recommend that don't cost the earth (this being mse and all!!!!)?

Can you tell I am new to this :D
