Still no sign of anything here either. I've spent the whole day feeling a bit queasy, and really teary. Going to do a test tomorrow, but I'm feeling scared that it'll still be negative and I won't know what's happening ie why AF still hasn't appeared.

Geez, Annie, what's wrong with us?

You're getting symptoms, so I don't know if that makes it better because you can hope more, or worse because it'll be even harder if it's negative.

Good luck for the test in the morning, I hope you get the news you want, and if you don't....I hope you don't feel too bad about it. There's always next month....

Thanks Jiblets. Good luck to both of us. You're right - there is always next month.

Btw, I have a BBT test kit from Boots - really easy to use, even when I'm half asleep! The book that comes with it is very helpful. Have you already got a kit?

Nope, not yet. I was kinda hoping to avoid it because it sounds so complicated, but this month is showing me I maybe need some extra information to what my cycle is doing.

Amazon (despatched by Home Health) is selling 15 Ovulation &/or Pregnancy Test strips at 3.19 with no delivery charge. This averages to 22p per stick. You can choose any combination of test strips you like eg you might want Ovulation strip more than pregnancy strip. The info provided is

    Pregnancy Tests at 10mIU/mL
    Ovulation Tests at 40mIU/mL
99.98% Accurate and CE and FDA Marked for Sale all over the world
These test are supplied to the NHS

A quick search seems to show pregnancy test at 10mIU/mL is not sensitive compared to Clear Blue test at 50mIU. So, this is not good?

I can't seem to find any test sensitivity for Ovulation tests on other sites like babymad or accessdiagnostic. First thought would be the info posted might be incorrect.

Anyone able to shed a light? I'm just deciding if I should buy this & if so, at what combination.

Personally I think the Clearblue fertility monitor is better than the individual strips which I found difficult to read sometimes. I know the monitor is an investment but it makes it much easier.

    Hi girls,

Nomealone, If you ovulate on day 18 or 19 in a 28 day cycle it shows that you have a short luteal phase of only 10 days. You would ideally have luteal phase of 12 days+(I think). If you look back in this thread you might find advice on how to lengthen your Luteal Phase. I think it was B vitamins but I cant remember which ones specifically. If you cant find it I'll look this evening after work.xx

Static999, I dont understand why a 10 IU test would be less sensitive than a clearblue 50IU test? Good prices though, thanks for that xx

Annie M, good luck with the HPT this morning. xx

Well my Day 21 blood tests came back saying 'ovulation unlikely', which I knew as I've been using the ov sticks this month.

My cycle hasn't been 28 days since last August so I didn't expect it to show anything for day 21. After that I had a 6 week then 8 week cycle, last AF was November, then nothing until Feb this year - that 3 month wait was agonising, I did hpt a few times (I thought I had symptoms) but gave up eventually and just waited. I booked doctors appointment and lo and behold AF makes an appearance that day, so he decides on the Day 21 tests to check ovulation.

So this month just waiting again, who knows when I'll get AF... 6/8/12 weeks???

Bought the ov sticks in November when my cycle went 8 weeks, but had to wait til Feb for AF to come to start testing, so have been testing 1 month so far.

For anyone who uses ovulation monitor/sticks, do you only get the 'positive' on one day? Or does it last a couple of days?

    Hi Annie.

Hope you get the results you want today.
I spent last month thinking I was pg, had all the symptoms but AF arrived just as I got a HPT out of the box. Hows that for timing?

From my own experience and advice from a doc if you don't have AF one month then one reason could be you haven't ovulated that month.

    Good Luck

lwcus, I think I found the answer. :j Lower mIU = more sensitive = detect pregnancy earlier but more likely to give false positive result if used early*.
HPT detect HCG which is only produced in pregnancy, after the fertilised egg has implanted. Implantation occurs b/w 6-12days after O. Hormone takes 12-48hrs to appear in urine in most cases. The levels are low to begin with (1-5mIU) and shld double roughly every 36-48hrs. First morning urine is least diluted, which is why it is recommended to test first thing in the morning. Most HPT detect HCG at levels of 25mIU+, some claim to detect at 10mIU. 25mIU can pick up BFP at 6-8days after conception but a higher percentage get BFP at 9-10days past conception .
*False positive result due to 20-30% of pregnancies end in miscarriage  & many of these are very early pregnancies.

HCG has similar structure to LH but with "extra bit". LH is detected by OPK. I guess Amazon info is OK. Just that most website don't say what the OPK sensitivity level is hence I couldn't find any info.

Sorry still very new to this. I didn't even know there is different sensitivity levels as I was merely comparing prices!

Re-read my older posts & realised I'm horribly long winded!! I'll try & keep to the point next time.

Nomealone - 100mg Vit B6 once daily to normalize hormone levels. This apparently may increase LP.

Annie M - fingers crossed for you!
