Hi Ladies.
Right....I need advice from Agnus Castus users.
I have decided to try some but need a little advice. I have googled for advice but didn't get a definate answer!
How long did you take it for? I have read that some advise only taking up until you ov but others advise it can be taken during the whole cycle.
How many capsules did you take per day? Some say 1 some say 2.
At the moment I am on CD18 and the fertility monitor says I have been at "high" fertility for 10 days now! (not ov'd yet and I honestly don't think i'm going to)
For the few months I have been taking notice of cycle lengths I vary from 27 days to 37 days with 30-31 being the more usual.
I spoke to my doctor about shortening my cycles and she said they will get back to more normal lengths as I lose weight but I'd like to try and help them along IYKWIM.
Thanks ladies
Oh and just to add....I had thought of calling my GP and/or emailing my fertility consultant but I'm sure they will both say not to bother.
When I called GP about putting hubby on Zinc he said not to bother but hubby was happy to go on it so he is.
Hi Shelly, I tried to find out information as well but I couldnt. You can either take tablets - Boots do a one a day one, or you can buy a tincture from the health food shop - 20 drops am and pm. The tincture is supposed to be the best. You are not supposed to take it if you are pregnant - so do you stop when you ovulate or at 28 days???? Dont know!!!!!!!!
It works by stimulating the pituitary gland - I found that when I started taking it I got headaches in the back of my neck, so I felt it was working.
I used to take it all the month, but then I wondered it that could be stopping me getting pregnant, so this month I only took it the first half, and dont think I ovulated - so I am definately confused!!! But then I am 39 with high FSH levels so I may not be the best example in the world!! When I think about it logically, it stimulates the pituitary gland to produce more hormones, and I think probably a pregnancy would do its own thing hormone wise, so I personally think that all month would be ok, stopping when (not if:D ) you get a positive test
If you find out anything else let me know!! - liloLive on £4000 a year again for 20110 -
Hiya girlies,
On CD3 today and going to go for another blood test to check my FSH levels? Don't know what they are but hope they are ok, lol!
Sorry shelly, can't help about the agnus cactus and it appears information is quite elusive. Doctors really don't like "alternative" therapies though do they. It seems if they don't prescribe it they are not interested in telling you about it.
Its really annoying because I was going to start BBT this month but my sleep patterns have gone haywire and I was planning on taking temp at 6am every day when alarm goes off but I can't seem to sleep beyond 5ish but having disturbed sleep aswell and they want you to take temp after min of 3 hours sleep. I just aint getting 3 hours on the trot at the minute. I think it is to do with ttc but hey what can you do? I suppose I can still start taking temp at any time, just won't have built up much of a pattern so don't know how hard it will be to tell of any changes.
Hope everyone has a good day!

Morning all!
As an aromatherapist I have lots of books on other complementary/ natural/ holistic therapies. I have been looking up agnus castus this morning & have found it's a big NO for pregnancy - so I wouldn't take it after ov has occurred if ttc, just in case. Mind you, if you search hard enough you can prob find something on the net which says the opposite - so much conflicting advice out there nowadays
Has anyone tried a reflexologist who is trained in fertility issues? I found one lat the beginning of this month (lovely lady) and was planning on going the next month - but now will probably wait for a few weeks and just go for pregnancy reflexology instead. Just wondered if anyone has tried it and what results were?

Hi, sorry if this is a bit out of place but I was wondering if anyone can recommend any good pre-conception books. The kind of thing that advises on diet and lifestyle and that kind of thing. I will hopefully be joining the TTC club next year but got some health issues that have to be under control first.
PS I have been a silent lurker on this thread for the last month!
Many thanks in advance************ Baby born 8th Jan 10************0 -

My first reflexology appt is this coming Monday; the therapist is trained in fertility issues. The sceptic in me tried balancing the numerous online success stories by searching for some negative ones, but they're really hard to come by (of course!). I asked her what her success rate is and she said 72%!! And of those who don't conceive naturally with reflexology most of them have gone on to have success with assisted conception. It almost sounds too good to be true
I'm on CD29 of a normally 28 day cycle. I've been feeling like AF is going to start for the past 8 days, but so far have only seen a bit of spotting since last night. I'm trying sooo hard now not to get my hopes up - I've kind of resigned myself that the spotting is just AF deciding to make a marginally late appearance :mad:0 -

Right....A really nice doctor just called me and I spoke to him about taking Agnus Castus.
He said that as it isn't on any government lists as being tested on humans for fertility issues he couldn't really give me much advice.
When I asked him about taking it all month or just up to ov as it is harmful during pg, he said the best I can do as I don't know when ov is take all month but obviously stop when I get a pos test.
So really I am no more wiser than I was before he called but at least he didn't advise not to take it at all:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0
