He shouldn't have a problem producing a sample at the hospital or anything, he seems to be able to knock one out anytime, anywhere lol!!

Am having my day 21 tests in 2 weeks, although my cycle until Nov was 28 days, I only got my next AF this month (nothing Dec/Jan), so unsure as to whether the 21 day tests will show anything if my cycle might still be weird. BUt as you say, I will also request they test my OH too sooner rather than later.

I had the 21 days test twice. My doc told me that if one month you don't have AF it can mean you didn't ovulate that particular month. Also if the test comes back positive it is only proof you ovulated that month. Unfortunately they can't test for previous months.

    Good luck!

  • Hi, hope it's OK for me to join this thread?

I'm 38 and DH is 37 and we've been trying for a year. DH has low/immotile swimmers, but AFAIK I'm OK (apart from getting older!). We've been referred to a fertility clinic, and are now waiting - should be about 3 months.

It's an absolute rollercoaster. My Gran died last May and my mum died in November so I've been feeling pretty low anyway (and not particularly sexy, at that!). We're still trying the natural way, but month after month of nothing happening is getting me down, and because it's DH's sperm which is the problem I don't want him to see me get too upset. Added to that 3 of my friends have had babies in the last year (the newest arrival happened without any planning whatsoever, in fact she was on the pill!). So it's a bit strange when you obviously are really happy for your friends, yet at the same time feel so wretched at your own lack of success.

Anyway, thanks for letting me rant a bit. The last couple of months have been really difficult, and I've sort of got to the stage where I've stopped counting days and reading into symptoms. Just feel a bit hopeless at the moment.

The very best of luck to everyone trying. Reading this thread and all your amazing stories really helps.
  • Hey MrsN- this is exactly what we all so- rant, moan, support & inspire! Sounds like you've had a particularly rubbish few months, I hope you are starting to feel a bit stronger.
I know exactly what you mean about looking into symptoms, feeling strange about other peoples news, its damn hard to keep smiling and its hard to put into words even to someone close. I'm sure it will happen for us all at some point, but in the meantime, chin up & those 3 months will be here before you know it!:T

  • Thanks skintbutsmiling for the nice words! I've just registered with mymonthlycycles.com so shall be bombing myself with email reminders to myself to get busy etc!

I also made the big mistake of telling some family and friends that we were ttc, so now get asked regularly how it's going...grrr! I know DH is just as keen as myself so I don't want to make him feel too guilty by getting tearful around him when AF arrives etc.

Anyway, good luck to you and everyone, I'm looking forward to reading everyone's updates and news.

  • It happened to DH too - despite being rushed there in my bra as the lady above said...:rotfl:

Apparently our local hospital is notorious for letting them get too cool on a Friday- so the moral of the story is to take the sample on a Monday - Thursday ;)

Yeah, we had to do a second sample. The first we were told to do at home and bring in, but the map was totally confusing, and they'd actually moved the fertility clinic to a completely new building. I was frantically running around and asking directions with a sample of 'daddy butter' whilst DH tried to find car park space. It was like a surreal version of Treasure Hunt!

Next one, DH did in the hospital, with me providing certain er... material for him on his mobile to help him out!!!! :rotfl:  :o:p:D

    Hi jiblets,
My friend had this in the early stages of her pregnancy? Would it be worth u doing a quick test even though you've had your AF? Some women still have AF as normal during pregnancy x

I guess it's a possibility, but I think it's unlikely - I've not had a symptom of anything else. I'm ovulating today(ish) so I'll leave it until just before next AF is due before I do another test. I'm determined not to get over excited:p .
I did mention it to the nurse when I went for my smear and she didn't seem too concerned. She said if it continues into next month that I should pop into the doctors to check. She was also a lot more understanding than the last nurse I saw about the whole TTC. She was aware that it's an emotional journey, and that saying "don't get ahead of yourself" doesn't mean a damn. So that was comforting.:T
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

I was reading somewhere about recent research that links caffeine to miscarriage, for those worried about it. That includes chocolate unfortunately. Also in a fertility pack I was given by the hospital when I was considering fertility treatment it said caffeine could affect fertility which is something I never heard before.

Mrs Nozzle - don't give up just yet. It took me two years to conceive my daughter at the age of 38 and I too had given up all hope. It
sometimes takes just a bit longer, but I'd go with the fertility treatment anyway if you can afford it.

I took folic acid and also Agnus Castus when i was ttc.
Please look into this before taking and discuss with the fertility docs. I know this bit may sound daft but i also bought a piece of rose quartz which to this day keep in my purse ( tiny piece) supposed to help with fertility and i guess something worked for me. Worth a shot though. Good luck everyone xx
