  • Hi there,

My partner and I have decided after a great deal of consideration, that we are going to try for a baby.

There are probably loads and loads of posts about this, so sorry to double up, but just wondered if anyone has any tried and tested ways to assist in this. Also, anything I need to be doing to look after myself...

    Many thanks....

  • Hello there,

There is a forum especially for this - Trying to Conceive - with lots of advice.

It is a great forum and they will make you feel welcome as I did and I have just found out I am pregnant!

So, join them and baby dust to you!

  • HI people,

I am new to this little forum because we have only just decided to try for a little bundle!

Anyhow, I wondered if anyone has any tips for us. Seems that you are all completely savvy about this and on reading some of these threads, realise that none of it makes sense!!!

Out of interest, what is 'temping'?!

Thanks people... Any help gratefully received...

I have started OV testing but nothing as yet.....this is the bit in which im cunfused....on a few other web sites ive read that the coil stops bleeding in most women completely but it only stops ovulating in a few???

That confuses me...if they still ovulate....why dont they then bleed. In which case i may have been ovulating!!! Im maybe just reading too much and getting myself confused......

ahh now this I do know the answer to, bleeding is not necessarily linked to OVing.
the bleed is the lining of womb and the hormone in IUS (i'm assuming thats what you mean by coil and not the old actual coil as they both get called this these days) prevents thickening of the lining meaning in some the lining never gets thick enough to produce a bleed.

hope you understand me there :D

  • HI people,

Temping is monitoring your Basel Body Temperature (BBT) which I am about to start doing too!
Google it and you'll get loads of info- basically using a digital thermometer you take your temp as soon as you wake up before doing anything (even peeing) and you take it orally or other places! Your temp rises after ovulation and stays high until your period (AF) and if it stays high for over 18 days then it may indicate pregnancy (think that is the blurb I read).

Anyhoo, have commenced ttc for definite now in the lizziebell household. Think I might be close ot ov as found some stretchy stuff this morning, however firstly I think I read before that population paste from night before can look like the EWCM stuff, is this the case and that is what I might have found? Also have noticed that I am getting more spots on my forehead in particular (although near my nose and chin too) so wondered if this can be a sign of impending ov? Am quite moody towards DH too for no reason- or am I just a spotty cowbag with no ov excuse?

    Thanks people :D

    Hi Lizziebell,

Yes you are correct - the two can be similar in appearance. I think there is some test you can do by dropping some in a glass of water - if it's Pop.Paste it will dissolve easily, EWCM not so easily, but I've never tried as I don't generally get much EWCM myself.

Congrats to any BFP's I've missed over the last few days - Icklebeans & MrsTine's I think! - been really busy with SK's, work, coursework, helping friends with DIY etc etc etc.

Got my appt with FC this afternoon. Thought I had worked out all I wanted to say, but gonna have to write some notes as it's all gone out of my head at the moment. Still trying to find tactful way of complaining about their service since they have moved, asking them to explain why they don't do ET the same way that most units seem to (from what I've read by the ladies on ivillage) whilst convincing them to bend their rules again about me being a tad overweight and still let me do another ICSI cycle next month! Finding it really hard to concentrate on anything at work at the moment.....

Was really mad with DH last nite as he had forgotten the appt and not asked for time off work! He has sorted it now though - luckily it is OK or him to leave early, or he would have been in real trouble tonite!!!!

Luck, dust 'n' glue to all who need it,

TTC with FI - RIP my 2 MC Angels - 3rd full ICSI starts May/June 2009 - BFP!!! Please let it be 'third time lucky'..... EDD 7th March 2010.
  • Oh my word, this is really frightening. I have absolutly no idea what you are all talking about and I want to!!!!!!

I just want to know how to get pregnant, what I need to do to look after myself better, but I don't understand what it all means..

Maybe i'm not ready for this afterall...:-(

I said that before I got pregnant with DD but it took two weeks of not drinking at the weekend before everybody guessed. :o

Ah, but most of our friends and family are in Ireland and we are in London. So if I can get pregnant next month I'll be past the scan by the next time I see them.;) As for my friends here, all of my girlfriends are on the essential list. And when I was on my 2ww this month I drank virgin cocktails, so it wasn't too obvious.

Congratulations on all the new BFPs! And very warm welcome to all the new members of the crazy club.

I couldn't resist last Thursday and bout a pregnancy magazine... It is good to know what is in store when I do get BFP, isn't it?... My TCOYF book hasn't arrived yet, but there is something waiting for me in the post office - so it may be it.

Ok, I need some patience... A bit more patience (A lot!!!!!)
