Oh my word, this is really frightening. I have absolutly no idea what you are all talking about and I want to!!!!!!

If you register with http://www.fertilityfriend.com they will email you a "lesson" everyday for about 3 weeks, which isn't a bad way to learn stuff. Tbh, I'm shocked at how short the get pregnant window is each month.

In school I got the impression that the egg was viable until your pms started. So that as sperm was viable for 5/6 days you could pretty much get pregnant at anytime of the month. And we had a lot of sex ed in our school. I guess the policy was to make us frightened that we could get pregnant really easily if we didn't use protection. It makes sense, but it's disappointing to learn the truth when you are ready to have a baby.

After this month of being all gung-ho with ov sticks and temping, I'm tempted this month to just go for the "have sex every two days" option. But my husband works such very, very long hours sometimes. I'm going to have to get him eating oysters and asparagus every day.:D

I just want to know how to get pregnant, what I need to do to look after myself better, but I don't understand what it all means..

Maybe i'm not ready for this afterall...:-(

Yup, just start at the beginning and read all the pages of the thread (might need a few cups of tea....and some biccies) but most things are repeated quite a bit and also there are explanations for all the acronyms (if that is the right word for it?? I was never any good at English) but after a while you just pick them up.

Thanks FairyElephant, just wanted to confirm ;) Don't think there was enough to be experimenting with glasses of water, plus I think my workmates may think I was a bit odd (well more odd!) taking drinks into the loos  considering I work with mostly men. Will just keep BDing, DH is loving it (although told him off for doing some DIY, if you know what I mean, while I was away this weekend, bad DH!)

Silly question maybe but it sounds to me that some folk are only BDing for a few days on or around ov- if I was to do it all the way through my cycle, would that be a bad thing or is it nest to only do it over fertile bit? I am for the keep doing it and eventually some will get to where they are meant to be, when they are meant to be there, as at the moment I don't know when ov is specifically as haven't started anything properly yet like temping etc.

    Cheers :D

Ah, but most of our friends and family are in Ireland and we are in London. So if I can get pregnant next month I'll be past the scan by the next time I see them.;) As for my friends here, all of my girlfriends are on the essential list. And when I was on my 2ww this month I drank virgin cocktails, so it wasn't too obvious.

It is easier for us - both our families are abroad, with the closest being 1000 miles away! We have relocated to the different part of the country, so all the friends are 120 miles away and we don't see them often (well, just visited them this weekend). And for the last - I don't drink much (a glass of wine is too much for me - didn't drink at all until recently...), so no one is surprised if I refuse a drink. What does surprise everyone - is if I accept a drink!!!!!

Congratulations on all the new BFPs! And very warm welcome to all the new members of the crazy club.

I couldn't resist last Thursday and bout a pregnancy magazine... It is good to know what is in store when I do get BFP, isn't it?... My TCOYF book hasn't arrived yet, but there is something waiting for me in the post office - so it may be it.

Ok, I need some patience... A bit more patience (A lot!!!!!)

Have you looked in your local library? I joined mine last week and got out "Fertility and Conception" "Eat to Boost Fertility" and "Fit for Fertility." And I chose a bunch of baby chick-lit like "Confessions of a Slummy Mummy" and "The Rise and Fall of a Yummy Mummy."

My poor DH's face when he saw what I'd chosen.:rotfl:

It's supposed to be best to only do it every second day as his sperm making bits need a rest to produce better sperms. And no solo fun for him either.

I read slummy mummy - it is in my book shelf! I haven't joined library yet, but might do when I find one!!!! (New to the area, and the 'village' we live in is completely new - 5 years old)
Anyway, I recently acquired Wii, so I am enjoying that one most of the time now (and Wii Fit!!!)

Ta, yes saw about the every 2 day thing (but was feeling a bit randy last night :D ) and he was bad with the solo activity (after me saying not to- however he doesn't listen mostly anyway......men!).

But guesssing that if then stick to every 2nd day, it is fine to do this anytime/over whole cycle and it won't have an adverse effect as opposed to doing it only over fertile bit of time? Sorry to repeat it, but don't want to over-do it and not helping the ttc.

You are correct. Doing the deed every 2-3 days throughout the whole of your cycle is fine and for lots of women is recommended (for those women who either ov very early or very late in their cycle)

Now I am going to shock you all and set a record for early testing. I done a pg test this morning......on day 2 of my cycle. How's that for early? Especially coming from me....who doesn't usually test until 5 days or more late :rotfl:

Ok ok I admit I had to do one because I have started my Clearblue clinical trial this morning and you have to make sure you aren't pg when starting every month.

Oh and it was neg btw :D

It is nothing new to me :o I have done that in the past... Even though I get the heavy AF, sometime it just doesn't sink in that you can't be pregnant until the next one arrives.... Silly me...
