  • Rosie Bud - I had a nosey at the Sainsbury's version of pregnancy vitamins today and compared them to the Pregnacare Conception ones that I'm taking. I know you said you bought the Asda ones, but they're probably all the same. Anyway, the vitamins and minerals contained in them both were mostly the same, though in generally lower quantities in the Sainsbury's pregnancy ones than the branded conception ones. Don't know if that would make any real difference? They're SO much cheaper though - I didn't know they did generic ones, but I'll definitely be buying those next time!

Ginvzt and everyone else feeling low - keep your chin up and rant away. It's blinkin' hard this malarky - not only do we have to put up with the trials and tribulations of ttc, but we also stay cool, calm and collected towards the outside world, become a biological knowledge-base, nutritionist, dietitian, gyneacologist, sexpert :p ... and all with outwardly good grace and no nagging our other halves (honest  ). It's multitasking at it's best I'd say! They say there's a lot to be gained by distancing ourselves from ttc, so definitely worth a try if you can do it.

Oh - and for the record, I do get EWCM. TMI alert... try checking the tissue after wiping. If you touch it between thumb and forefinger and pull them apart it stretches really easily. I find it can be hard to distinguish from population paste though (whoever coined that phrase deserves an award! :rotfl: )

Stay positive everyone... babydust to you all x
  • Ok girls so confused about my stupid body! lol Maybe I am just more aware of things going on because we are TTC.

Basically AF raised her ugly head on Saturday (Grrrrrr) not really very bad period pains (well nothing in comparison to what I usually get) however today and this evening I have been getting quite bad pains, kind of like the pains I get when I know I am ovulating. Maybe TMI but my period has also been kind of strange, very few clots but a lot of bright red blood.............sorry! Just concerned that my body is messed up!!!

Like I said maybe these are things that happen every month but I may be more aware of them because we are TTC.

Sorry for the ramble but feel better for getting this off my chest!

    Hi Linz.

I am in no way a professional but it could be that as you have officially strated TTC your body/mind is subconciously under pressure and/or stress.
You might not feel any different but our bodies are brilliant at showing us what we aren't always feeling.

for example......in the 6 weeks before my wedding day I was getting migraines every few days. As soon as one had gone, another came in its place. I went to the doctors to be told that they were caused by stress of the wedding.
I honestly didn't fell stressed, everything was running smoothly, everything was paid for. I had no reason to worry but I obviously was worrying to be getting the migraines.

As always though, if you are worried call your GP surgery and ask for a call back (if they offer that service) and have a quick chat. Just to set your mind at rest.

    Good luck

  • Must be something in the air today, or autumn arriving with a bump, but I feel blue too!!!

AF is having a strange visit here, too, no clots etc (sorry TMI!!!) and quite light, but lots of pain. I have been trying all sorts of herbs etc so I expected it to be different but this is really wierd. I am usually really heavy for a day, and yet this has been really light. I keep thinking ooh maybe its implantation bleed, but I havent had that before when preg so why now? and I dont really think its light enough to be that either Totally confused, and not wanting to read anything into it. Really fed up cos I did think that this might be the month. Still, best put my positive head on ......... I will get pregnant!!!

    Hi all,

I dipped into this thread a while back but now me and DH are actively TTC. I've been off depo for about 14 months and my periods seem to have returned to normal in that they are regular. My last one started started almost 2 weeks ago and only lasted a few days, which actually is shorter than normal but nothing that worries me. I have some ov tests but don't really want to get bogged down in all that yet! What do you look for when you're ov'ing? Is it just best to BD every few days anyway and not try to 'time' everything?

I already have a DS who's 5, and I feel ready now to have another. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

  • Hi Ladies (and any boys if you are looking too),

As DH and I will be starting to do this I wanted to ask something about it. I've seen some posts about how population paste looks the morning after so waht I wanted to ask is after you have BDed do you just stay in bed and leave the PP in you? Doesn't it just leak out overnight? I have never left it before as didn't want to have to wash my bedcovers more than necessary ;) but I suppose if you put some pants on that should save the washing?

What if you have to pee after you finish (I do try and do that to fend off evil cystitis).

Crazy cycle update, AF has finally left I think after a 2 week stay (rude!) so have said to DH that we will only be doing it every few days with no DIY inbetween for him :D (I take it the every 2-3 days for BD means he also has to stop the DIY activity?)

Thanks in advance- seems like silly questions but hey!

Just won a copy of the TCOYF book off Ebay and a BBT thermometer so hopefully they'll turn up in the post soon- the book seems to get v.good reviews on amazon.

I try to stay in bed for a little while to give it time to "soak in" :D (With a pillow under the hips or butt in the air if I remember) Usually I have to pee afterwards too which I just do as normal and if you try to stay in bed for 10-15 mins the sperm will have got to where its going by then. I always wear knicks in bed so the leakage has never been a problem for me.

Ah yes, meant to say about the tissue issue! thanks for reminder honeypop.

I have a roll of loo roll beside the bed. When I have done my 10-15 mins I have to put some tissue down there just to catch any leakage, of which there is usually lots (sorry if TMI)

Sorry to be a pain, I forgot to ask this on my last post. Doh!

I was going to buy some folic acid this morning but was in a rush and have picked up Pregnancy Supplement (Asdas own). Are these just meant for when you have conceived? Can you take these instead of just folic acid? They have 400micrograms of folic acid along with Vit D, E, C, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Niacin, vit B6, vit B12, vit K, iron, magnesium, zinc, iodine, selenium, copper and beta carotene.
    Rosie Bud xx

Rosie - I take Sainsbury's own pregnancy vits, and have since I started TTC (sooo long ago now) as i was previously taking a multivit anyway, and when I read the packets these are like the multivit but with extra Folic Acid. I checked with my Fertility Consultant and she said they were fine to take whilst TTC and contained enough Folic so I don't need to take any extra.

Re the EWCM - I think you were asking about this too? I hardly ever get any of this to notice - I did last month, just once. I thought it was a big deal, but the Consultant is not bothered by this though, and says it doesn't make any difference. When we were trying 'naturally' though (on the IVF rollercoaster now) I used the sperm-firndly lubricant around the time of OV, as I figured it might make it easier for the 'little fishies' to swim in, as I wasn't seeming to produce suitable mucous. That was just my theory though!

QUICK UPDATE on me - finally (after making several 'reminder' calls!) got an appt with the consultant for next Mon (8th), then got a letter saying as it's a while since we had bloodtests done she wants us both to have some done before the next IVF cycle - updated syphilis for both of us, and me to have FBC and LH/FSH - problem is that these need to be done on days 1-5 of cycle, so I missed it this time around, and next time I will be away on hols......and I really wanted to to start the next round of IVF next cycle, which means from day 19 of the cycle (when I will be back from hols and hopefully nice & chilled!) - so if she insists, then we can't do it until the end of Oct cycle....so very frustrated! If only they had come back to me quicker then I could have got it done this time around. GGGRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

I'm really getting more & more dissatisfied with this clinic since their move, but if I move to another one it's a bit of a trek, and I am afraid I will have to fight them over the weight issue again. Feeling very frustrated all in all.

Hope everyone else having a good week!

Hugs, Dust & Glue all around!

Have you got a saliva microscope?;)

Forgot to say - I had one of these but didn't get on with it - I got 'positive' results nowhere near OV, and often didn't get any when the OV test kits said it was happening!!!!!!! Yet another thing I have wasted my money on whilst on this endless TTC rollercoaster!
