How far does everyone take their pregnancy safety precautions while they are ttc? I'm in the 2ww period and I'm so paranoid about everything. Obviously I won't be drinking, but how far do people go when it comes to not eating certain fish, peanuts and soft-cheeses. I'm suddenly realising how much of the foods I like contain dodgy foodstuffs.

On the plus-side I have my husband booked to take me to my favourite cocktail bar and then for a big sushi dinner if/when the AF comes in a fortnight.;)

Not sure how true it is, but I think diet makes a contribution. When I conceived my daughter I'd just lost over 2st and was maintaining this, so eating much less than 'normal'. I was also switching over to soya 'dairy' products - was veggie at the time and slowly removing cow's milk from my diet.

When I conceived my son last year, I was eating way more food and was no longer vegetarian....also eating plenty of dairy products.

I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant and convinced this one is a girl (though I could be wrong.....!). I recently lost weight and was again switching over to soya milk instead of dairy. The only difference to the first time I was pregnant is that I'm still eating meat.

Not sure whether this baby will prove the theory....boy or girl, I don't mind!

Hiya! Can I come and join in please? Just moved onto cycle number 8 yesterday and am starting to get a little fed up now. Don't know how much longer I can wait (not that I have any choice in the matter mind!) xx

I rarely drink and don't eat 99% of the foods they say are bad in pregnancy anyway so it doesn't really matter much to me.
I don't/won't change my eating habits at all until I get the BFP......actually that's a lie as I'm on a diet at the moment but have only cut down the amount I eat, not actually what I eat.....I love nuts and have them as a treat now and then :D

If we were having drinks with friends I wouldn't let being on my 2ww stop me having a couple of drinks either.

I was very good. I was craving cockles of all things but decided against it. If anything were to go wrong I know I would blame myself.

... just want to note again that I was after info on the different sexes conceived. I find it really interesting myself and did all the old wives tales tests before I found out the sex. I will not be made to feel guilty for those that are finding it difficult to conceive. God/Science deals your cards! Nothing wrong with asking the question!

I totally agree. When we first started ttc I used to get DH to order me a lemonade with 'ice and a slice' on a night out so I could pretend it was my usual G&T, but after a few cycles I realised that I couldn't put my life on hold 'just in case'. If we're on a night out during the 2ww I'll generally drink less than I might have before ttc, but until I get that BFP life goes on as close to normal as possible.

Saying that though, August has been really hectic socially and the number of empty wine bottles last Sunday morning probably totally contradicted what I just said above! I'm looking forward to a much quieter September!

More difficult is trying to convince DH to be sensible. If anything, HE needs to be sensible the first two weeks, while I need to be sensible the last two. I can more or less keep my end of the bargain, but I don't see him doing the same

What are you all like - I've popped in for my daily update, and have been treated to a history and biology lesson all in one!!!!!!
eugggghhhhhh to the pregnancy tests, I think I would have waited until I got the tummy rather than that - at least the frog didnt die!!!
On the boy/girl thing - this is DH second marriage, and he already had 4 kids - 3 boys and one girl - so when I got pregnant, I think we were fairly resigned to the fact that we were going to have a boy (not that it mattered, sorry that sounded awful!!!!!!!!! and we did - I think he must have a lot of boy sperm, cos that is with 2 different women.

Anyways, Im on CD 26 with sore boobs, and felt sick this morning, but on my track record of trying, I am not getting my hopes up!!! After 5 odd years, it aint happened yet (well not thats stuck past 9 weeks anyways)

Babydust all round - have a good weekend, have fun all those due to ovulate, and pinkies crossed for more BFPs to all those nearing the end of 2WW
