WOW GracieP!!!
thanks for that info!0 -
I have heard several stories of success using dilute lemon juice to tip the balance in favour of a girl, haven't heard any boy stories though (maybe everyone I know who expressed a preference wanted girls!)0

We had a boy, did our research on cycles and the best time to do it to have a girl, and lo and behold we did. Helps I think that we're very fertile and both were conceived at the first attempt.0

Being infertile I am just greatful for my daughter conceived after 9 years of IVF, 5 cycles costing £20,000 and the loss of 3 prescious babies.
I wouldnt care what i had as long as they were healthy.TRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0 -
I read an article about scientists who had discovered a very plausible link to the amount a woman eats when concieving and the sex of the child.
The findings were that women who ate more when trying to concieve had boys and women who were dieting had girls!!!
I found this really interesting so did a bit of a survey of the women i know (i know i know i'm a geek.)
I particularly asked women with one of each if they could remember how they had eaten before getting pregnant.
I myself was much larger when i had my first child (a son)
I then went to weightwatchers and whilst losing weight conceived my daughter.
Amongst my friends i found that on the whole this theory proved correct my friends who had girls had been dieting (a lot of them being conceived in the summer and they were dieting for hols) and friends who had boys admitted they had been eating more when fallen pregnant.
I do wonder if this is why victoria beckaham has boys as she is always reported to be eating more to prepare her body for conception.
I am in no way advocating starving yourself or eating yourself stupid to get the sex of child you wish but i certainly found it interesting.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
And there is also a belief that the acidic/alkaline make up of the vagina is a contributing factor as an acidic environment kills Y while a basic one kills X. So the old wives tale goes that if you want a boy you douche with baking soda prior to sex and vinegar if you want a girl.
I would have thought controlling this through diet might be easier, safer and more plesant all round than trying it at the other end.So if you have sex 4-5 days before ovulation only the X sperms will be around for conception making you more likely to have a girl. Whereas if you have sex closer to ovulation the odd of having a boy are stronger as the Y's move faster.0 -

ooo... let us know darlin'!Hiya, cheers LP and kathy old bud!........
Well, I went to the loo at work today and there was some weird browny coloured blood there when I wiped myself?! Then later on there was a bit of blood, but its not a normal AF-type thing. Really not sure still whether its implantation bleed or AF on its way?! My usual cycle is 21-25 days and this is now day 35. Help!
:jLoves freebies! :j

Helen79, would it be worth giving your doctor a call and saying that you are very late and got some spotting, but no proper AF? Maybe they can do a blood test to rule out (or in!!!!) pregnancy? It is true that not everyone gets positive test on the stick. It may not work for you.

I guess that if you have two boys and you conceived each on the first try, it might be worth focusing on pre-ovulation sex in order to have a girl. At the moment I'm trying for our first, so I couldn't be bothered which we have first, though I guess if we've conceived this month, the odds are that it's a boy.;)0 -

There is noway I'll ever be douching myself, but the OP was curious about old wives tales.0
