    Hay Little Pickle,

    You sound like me! I was 18 when I was put on the pill for acne. I will be 30 in March. I came off the pill in January and gave my body seven full months to get the pill out of its system. In that time I was able to see my cycles (between 25 and 29 days) and notice things happening to my body during this time - eg changes during ovulation.

    This is the second month of TTC - fingers crossed for me and you! :-)

    LP, as I've recommended to others previously, if you're planning on ttc soon, but not quite yet I personally think you should come off the pill now. You can always use condoms for a while, and the extra time you can allow your body to get over the pill could save you some impatient heartache later on...

    Good luck!

    Most commonly used abbreviations are here...

    2ww = 2 week wait (between ov and af)
    AF = Aunt Flo (Period)
    BBT = Basal Body Temperature
    BD = "baby dancing"
    BFN = Big Fat Negative
    BFP = Big Fat Positive (pregnancy test)
    CD = cycle day (1st day of AF is the start of a new cycle and is CD1)
    CM = Cervical Mucus
    CP = Cervical Position (high means ovulation is imminent)
    DPO = days past ovulation
    EWCM = Egg White Cervical Mucus (The consistency that will stetch between your fingers - ew!)
    FSH = follicle stimulating hormone (starts building up during AF to cause follicles to grow on the ovaries and develop eggs)
    HPT = home pregnancy test
    LH = luteinising hormone (causes the ripest egg to burst out of the follicle - it is a surge in this hormone that ovulation predictors look for, as LH peaks about 12-18hrs before ov)
    LP = luteal phase
    m/c = miscarriage = loss of a baby in the 1st or 2nd trimester of pg
    OPK = ovulation predictor kit
    ov = ovulation - the moment the egg (ovum) is released
    pg = pregnant
    POAS = pee on a stick
    tcoyf = "Taking Charge Of Your Fertility", a book by Toni Weschler that's generally considered to be the "TTC Bible". In it, she describes how to track your fertility by temp'ing, checking for EWCM and Cervical Position. See http://www.ovusoft.com/
    TTC = Trying to conceive

    Thanks Little Pickle!

    In regards to your pill, coming off and acne - I was taken off Diannette 2 years ago by my new doctor. This was the pill that had helped clear by acne. I was put on Yasmine and the spots started again (I was aged 26). Back in January when I came off the pill I was dreading the return of the acne...but it hasn't been as bad as I thought. I get the old ones on my chest and neck (these were my bad areas) but these are fine - so hopefully yours shouldn't come back with avengance!

    Hi Little Pickle welcome to the thread.

    I was on the pill for about 17 years and got pg in my 2nd cycle after coming off it. I feel much better for being off it too. I don't get PMT anywhere near as bad as I used to, though hubby says I always have been and always will be a moody b***h :rotfl:

    EXACTLY the same story... although Yasmin was okay for me so that's what I'm still on. x x

    thanks shelly, I'm hoping I'll feel better too when I do come off. my PMT can be terrible at times! :o

    I tend to just say to OH...
    'it's my hot week. (I get hot in the week before :confused: ), so be nice, don't fart without saying pardon and kiss me lots. OR I WILL CRY!

    I cry more than I get angry... dunno why...:confused::D

    Do you guys have any stories regarding falling after long term pill use?

    Have been on the pill (to control acne) since 15 and never had a break (longer than a month here and there). I'll be 30 next month.

    Yep I have a story, not a good one though! I was on the pill for 12 years, and stopped last July, since then my cycle has been haywire and I don't seem to be ovulating at all. After discussions with the doc, this seems to happen a lot to women who were on the pill for a LONG time, I really wish I had known this before, I certainly wouldn't have been on it so long if I'd known the effect it may have on conceiving in the future.

    This month I have been given Clomid to take to encourage ovulation, so fingers crossed something starts happening soon.
  • Any ideas what on earth that might have meant? Or was it just the pizza I had last night? Has anyone else had a freaky pregnancy dream while TTC?[/quote]

    Lots and lots - but I usually dream i'm preggers or have got twins or something. :confused:
