honeypop lots of people go on to have BFPs with clomid, how are you finding it? Has your OH had any tests done?Compulsive Spendaholic #150

Yep I have a story, not a good one though! I was on the pill for 12 years, and stopped last July, since then my cycle has been haywire and I don't seem to be ovulating at all. After discussions with the doc, this seems to happen a lot to women who were on the pill for a LONG time, I really wish I had known this before, I certainly wouldn't have been on it so long if I'd known the effect it may have on conceiving in the future.
This month I have been given Clomid to take to encourage ovulation, so fingers crossed something starts happening soon.
Hello honeypop. and i'm so sorry to hear your story. *plants a little kiss on honeypop's cheek*
I have to admit, I'm a little frightened. it's 15 years on the pill already.
Maybe the sooner the better to stop.0 -

Do you guys have any stories regarding falling after long term pill use?
Hello LP
My story - was on combined pill for 12 years - stopped taking at age 28 concieved first cycle but sadly miscarried at 8 weeks, concieved son 6 weeks later, didn't go back on pill in between and concieved daughter 9 months after birth of son.
Recently age 35 concieved while taking progesterone only pill but sadly miscarried at 8 weeks.
My opinion I'm not sure that taking the pill will affect your fertility but as jiblets mentions I reckon it's a good idea to stop taking it asap before you plan to start TTC as in my case (though may just have coincidental) it appears it could link to miscarriage and you'll want to be in the best possible health.
Good luck x;)0 -

When are you and hubby going to start TTC?

Umm, this morning.;) Though I'm only on cd10 so I doubt I'm pregnant. It's a bit weird to be having unprotected sex after 13 years where the goal is to not get pregnant. It's our 2nd wedding anniversary next week, which would be a great day to start trying properly though.0 -
Hi LP, Gracie and the other newbies!
My worst dreams are when I dream I'm actually on the loo trying to wee, and something stops me, and then I wake up bursting... like if I'd have been asleep for seconds longer I'd have some explaining (and washing) to do!!!
OMG just burst out laughing in middle of open plan office full of men! I have these too, soooo bad!
Hi by the way, I am also new to this forum- just researching ttc and the like as me an OH will be doing this v.soon (life plan to have a sprog by the time I'm 30 and that is approaching fast)- all going to plan to start in Dec as have a weeks holiday booked to NY in Jan (not that I would expect to be pg by then if we started now but I reckon not being pg would be better for holiday and knowing how things go I would get pg now if I tried.... rambling a bit sorry!).
Came off the pill (been on for 9 years) in Jan and trying to use condoms (hate hate hate them) and miscalculated cycle days this month, usually 28 days and managed to have a bit of fun without a rainmac on the day I theoretically should have been ovulating-oops! (funnily enough my brain isn't good a maths when in the throws of certain things....even though last AF started on the 1st of the month so shouldn't be rocket science) anyway having some weird happenings since yesterday a bit earlier than should be here and trying to not jump to IB conclusions-we shall see as there are no other symptoms like people have mentioned such as sore bits or anything- but don't know if is just AF craziness 2 weeks early??
Will pop to savers at weekend and get some cheapo tests just in case a certain relative doesn't show at the end of the month......0 -

Yes I heard that so we are keeping everything crossed (except my legs lol!). It's been ok, took it CD2-CD6 and looking at temp chart it looks like I ovulated on CD17 as BBT started rising from then and is constantly higher since, which hasn't happened before now. I felt a few twinges in my belly area that day, so maybe that was ovulation, never felt it before and didn't realise it was the same day as chart show OV until I looked back, so not like I was feeling it cos I was 'thinking' I was ovulating.
OH had instructions to get sperm analysis when we went to doctor (when I got the Clomid), but our hospital lab is only open odd hours and days, and not at a time he can get there. There was a time he could have gone, but doing the 5 days abstinence was the time we should have been BDing regular incase I ovulated, so we did that instead of course. Need to try and time it towards the end of my cycle or when AF is here, so he'll try for an appointment again soon.
AF 'should' be due sometime next week, but we are not expecting anything first go. Can't really symptom spot as every AF I've had in the past 12 months has been accompanied by different symptoms each time, no 2 cycles the same, so anything I 'feel' is just as likely to mean AF than a BFP.
I'm just pleased it looks like I ovulated after a year of not having that happen. Got one more cycle of this before having some tests done myself, doctor says.0 -

So sorry to hear your news Fairy Elephant :-(
Welcome to all the newbies. Even if you are not starting to ttc yet don't forget to start taking your folic acid now! & get a blood test to check if you need rubella vaccine again (it doesn't always work).
I am now CD22 of 29 so playing the waiting game!0 -
Hi to all the newbies - sending you lots of babydust - we seem to be getting lots of BFPs at the moment so you've joined a good crowd.
FE - hope the heads okay after last night, come and offload anytime you like
Im CD 18 at the moment, and as soon as AF arrives (although not for 9 months would be nice!) we need to book pre-IVF scan in days 1 - 10 to decide on our next IVF plans - whether to go drugs or natural!! (Basically they are either going to give me the full whack of drugs to try and get more eggs, or none at all, and just catch the one I make all on my own) So one way or the other its all go - although DH finds out whether he is redundent or not on 4th September so great timing!!!
Anyways, buckets of babydust to all!!!
LiloLive on £4000 a year again for 20110 -
Little Pickle - ha ha, we are on of the same!
Would recommend coming off the pill though - gives it time to get out of your body before you want to TTC.Proud mother of twin boys - double the trouble and twice the pleasure! :T0
