Hi, I've been lurking here on and off for the last while. Hubby and I are soon to start ttc and I'm very nervous about it. I'm so stupidly excited at times that we're even about to try that it's almost as if I am already pregnant.:o

I'm being really foolish about it. I have it all in my head that by starting trying now I'll have had the first scan before Christmas and can tell our families and friends when we are back home for the holidays. I know how unlikely that is, but I can't shake off the giddyness and the planning.

Can I share a horrible nightmare I had - it has stayed in me head all day and I'm still feeling freaked out... (Sorry if TMI)

At a medical appointment with a nurse, having an examination of my abdomen, she was really pressing on my tummy - with more and more pressure. I kept thinking that I might be pregnant, but couldn't tell the nurse, and she was pressing even harder - until I was doubled over in pain, and then something inside went 'pop' and there was suddenly blood pouring down my legs.

I woke up thinking AF must have made an early appearance, and that I was lying in a pool of blood, but I wasn't.

Any ideas what on earth that might have meant? Or was it just the pizza I had last night? Has anyone else had a freaky pregnancy dream while TTC?

Aw what a horrible dream! Im newly pregnant and have been having seriously weird dreams every night, ranging from the kind you wouldnt even post about to really sad ones about my gran still being alive when she died 10years ago and it was so vivid! I woke up and realised she wasnt I was so upset! Apart from that cant really remember if I had any weird dreams while I was ttc.

My hubby thinks I'm odd not only because I usually dream every night (sometimes 2 or 3 dreams if I have to get up for the loo) but I can usually remember everything about them. If I have to get up for the loo then dream again when I go back to sleep the dream usually carries on or its a different dream but connected to the first in some way.

When I'm in the 2ww my dreams are much more baby related then before the 2ww. Usually we have twins or triplets!
Or sometimes I dream I'm having another mc but its a multiple pg and I am actually crying when I wake up.
Hubby says its awful to hear me some nights making boohoohoo noises in my sleep :rotfl:

I might sound mad but my personal opinion is that dreams are just one way that our bodies/minds deal with and try to solve difficulties/problems that we are experiencing at that time.

Hi Gracie, welcome to the thread.

I think if you're having dreams about ttc you are quite possibly letting the whole thing stress you out too much. Tyr making a conscious effort (an oxymoron maybe?) to relax more. I've really improved since I took a while to ease off at work, go for lots of walks and have lots of fun nights out. :D
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o
  • Hi everyone... LP here!

OH and I are thinking of starting a family soon and thought I'd have a look around the TTC board!

Do you guys have any stories regarding falling after long term pill use?

Have been on the pill (to control acne) since 15 and never had a break (longer than a month here and there). I'll be 30 next month.

    Thanks guys!

ETA: could you guys please explain the abbriviations you're using too? thanks x

    Hi LP - how exciting :j :j

I am not supposed to be in here :o but I thought I would say that I was in exactly the same position as you (but a year older) and I got caught on month 2. I think it just depends on the person - try to relax and not be obsessive and see how it goes.

Hi TTC'ers - I still lurk and read how you are all doing every day :D Baby dust to all :A

  • Hi LP, Gracie and the other newbies!

LP - I think the 'official' line is that being on the pill doesn't affect your chances of conception. Having been ttc for a while now I'm not so sure (feel I have to blame something as I was on it for 16 years and have had an otherwise fairly 'well-behaved' life ), but I have friends who took it for long enough and fell pregnant relatively easily.

With regards to the dreams conversation, I think stressing has a great deal to do with it (even if you don't think you're stressed). When taking my temps I'd find I'd actually take them in my sleep at silly o'clock in the morning - the thermometer beeping would wake me and DH and then I'd struggle to get back to sleep. I've stopped temping for a while, but will start again next month and see if I've knocked that on the head.

I always dream really vividly. The other night I dreamt I had an implantation bleed, and was surprised (and a little disappointed) there was nothing there when I woke and went to the loo. Still a week to go before AF, so maybe - hopefully!! - it was my body telling me something, or maybe it was just my mind playing tricks. My worst dreams are when I dream I'm actually on the loo trying to wee, and something stops me, and then I wake up bursting... like if I'd have been asleep for seconds longer I'd have some explaining (and washing :o) to do!!! I've had these all my life, so they're nothing to do with ttc, but I just thought I'd add them to the mix

I'll fling some babydust around for good measure as we don't seem to have had any for a while... xx
  • Tee hee - MFD just beat me to the babydust!
  • Thanks MFD...
I've heard that it can be very quick after pill stops...
we're not in a rush to fall, but quick would be good too! I think we're going to start TTC from December... Christmas Day sounds nice! :D
