    Hi Naomi

My DH and I decided to use the so called 'turkey baster' route as he suffered from depression and had an extremely low s@x drive. We wanted to start a family so gave it a go! We also used the ovulation strips bought v cheaply off eBay.

The very first time we tried, I became pregnant but unfortunately miscarried. After a few months we tried again and conceived yet again after the first attempt! I now have a 6 month beautiful baby girl (immaculately conceived lol).

Good luck and best wishes to you all.

Please forgive me if I'm being too personal, but when you refer to the 'turkey baster' do you mean donor insemination ?

I'm asking 'cos OH has got a low sperm count and as I'm 40 next week we don't have much time left to 'mess about'
We are awaiting a referral to a private fertility clinic, at the moment we are seriously considering using donor sperm, as we figure ,realistically ,that
we only have a year or so left of trying and as we're not eligible for NHS funding ,we need to go for the most effective and cheapest route.

Any information /advice would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Hi there,
Does anyone here know how many days past ovulation the BBT is likely to increase if pg and how many days before AF is BBT likely to drop? The 2 week wait is driving me crazy!!
    Thanks xx

    thanks pokem02!!
  • Hi everyone - I thought I would join in as I now have been trying for a baby since May. I have a 16 month old son who took 8 months to conceive but was hoping it would be quicker this time around. Good luck to you all x x x

    Hi Nottslas

No, we didn't use donor sperm. My DH produced the goods, as it were, and I inseminated myself.

I really do hope that you are successful whichever route you choose to take.

Very best wishes and good luck!
  • Hey,
Thinking this might be the best place to ask.

DH and I are not yet ttc, but are planning on trying from August. I've been keeping an eye on my ovulation, AF etc. and am trying to work out what's going on!!

I always used to be regular, 28 days, no fail. When I got married, I took the pill for 2 or 3 months, but didn't like it, so came off it. My AF changed to anything between 28 and 31 days. Now about 17 months since coming off the bcp I'd settled at about 31 days, with 1 odd month 3mths back where I had weird cramping a couple of days before (1st time ever) and then was a few days late, actually thought I might be pg.
I've been a little stressed / upset with family dying in this past 2 months which I know could knock things off a bit, but I noticed last month my LP was only 7 days before AF (used to be about 14 days) and this month AF has shown up at 29 days instead of the 31 and my LP was only 4 days!!
I know when I ovulate cos I feel it and my boobs ache til AF.

What's going on with my body though, why have I started having a really short LP?? This is not good!! Is there anything I can do to make this longer - I know it's a number of months before we're going to start ttc, but I don't want to have this problem at that time.

Anyone else come across this problem????

    Hi there,
    Welcome newbies,
Cheeky lil monkey -i might have read in either this forum or one of the others that Bvitamins may lengthen the LP? Not 100% sure but I'll see if I can find the info again and post it here.
I'm still waiting:mad: I'm cuurently 11 days past ovulation. Might have to give in and do an early preg test sat morning!! Not having any symptoms yet though. How are other people coping with the 2 week wait? It is driving me INSANE!!! xxx

lwcus I know what you mean. Each month is awful. I can't help seeing everything as a symptom, and as yet I've invariably been wrong...
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

    Not just me then!

I've had achey, swollen, veiny  bubs since last week, but not achey in the same way as usual. I keep having - or THINKING I'M HAVING - a metallic taste in my mouth. I keep thinking I really could be pg, and then thinking I can't be pg. It is doing my head in - and OH is probably getting bored with my 'am I aren't I' ramblings.

If I'm not pg, I don't know how I'll cope feeling like this every month. I'm sure you all know exactly what i'm talking about.

It really helps to know that other people are feeling the same way. Psychosomatic symptoms/real symptoms and all!

I would say you get used to feeling disappointed every month but you don't. Well I certainly haven't, even though I know I have less chance now of conceiving naturally than before I lost my cervix to cancer. If I'm one day late or don't get AF symptoms a couple of days before she is due I struggle to not convince myself I'm pregnant.
I sometimes struggle with my feelings too. One month I absolutely crave a baby, the next month I wonder if I really want one. I think these feelings boil down to that I know when I do get pregnant it will be a struggle to go full term without a full cervix. I am absolutely petrified of getting so far only to lose it. Hubby and I have spoken about this openly and he has said that he will support me 100% in whatever I decide. For the moment we have decided to keep trying. My consultant has said that if I'm not expecting by the summer he will get us some help as I'm not getting any younger :D

If it happens it happens, if it don't it don't. I'm just lucky and grateful to even be alive.

Sry.....needed to get that off my chest, just had AF so am a bit miffed.
