Hi,
My hubby and I have decided this month that next year we would like to ttc, we are having to wait a year as I have been on medication and it takes that long to leave my system, this will also give us time to sort our finances out as well.
Anyway one of the meds I had in November was a chemo drug called cyclophosphamide, i've had a relatively small dose but have heard it can damage the ovaries, i'm not going to have it again but wondered if anyone had success after having this drug or similar chemo drugs?
I am guessing I may have some trouble getting pregnant but then you never know unless you try really.
Any tips on what I should do this coming year to prepare myself? I am at a healthy weight and have a healthy diet, should I come off the pill and use alternative methods of contraception for the time being just to regulate my cycle?
Sorry about the questions it's just for me deciding to have a baby will actually require major planning!
Thanks

With your weight and diet being healthy it sounds like you are doing ok and need no help there.
I know we are all different but from pure personal experience my periods were regular as clockwork after coming off the pill and I had been on it for 15yrs at least.
Oh and take folic acid everyday as soon as you start ttc.
and most of all good luck!!:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Hi
I just wanted to post as I fully understand the feeling of trying, waiting for all those weeks to go by, getting period pain, feeling disappointed and then also having to tell OH.
I spent months checking temp, reading books, checking ALL areas(!!), not letting hubby do too much cycling or wear tight pants! and even having blood tests done etc.
A friend of mine said that she had got pregnant twice after having sex with days of her period starting. I thought that she was wrong and ignored her - feeling that I knew best and that mid-cycle was the time for action.
After nearly two years I remembered her advice and had loads of nooky the day that I stopped bleeding and of course the rest is history and the result is a cheeky 4 year old who loves pink.
Trying for number two again things weren't looking great and I went to see the doc who also suggested the same time scale as before - this result is another boy who has the sweetest smile.
I was also training to run the cancer 5KM - coincidence? Maybe the exercise and timing are the important things.
I also have a sister-in-law TTC and given my advice also became pregnant!
Hope this helps - don't bother with ovulating kits - mine came back neg whilst blood tests were fine and by the time you know you are ovulating it is too late - the doc said that you need to have sex about 8-4 days before ovulation to give the little blighters time to get their act together.

Hi girls,
How are you all doing?
JPWhittle- congratulations! Hope you'll have a lovely pregnancy.
Pixie girl- not long to go before hubby back. Bet u cant wait!!;)
My periods were always regular until we decided to start trying:rolleyes: I'm sure its due to the pressure I'm putting nyself under. I'm trying to chill out about it but easier said than done!! I didn't ovulate this month til CD20. My cycle is normally 26 days ish! I hate having to wait til the end of the month. I try not to get my hopes up too much to avoid being dissapointed.
Ok, chat soon. xxx0 -
Hi all, just spotted this thread, My husband and I are ttc our first, I've been off the pill since August, having ups and downs with how relaxed I'm being about the whole thing, but basically am really excited and hoping for the best.Hippychick wrote: »Hi,

Hippychick - I've not got any proper advice for you, just some encouraging words. My cousin (male) had a type of leukeamia and had various chemo - before the chemo they froze some of his sperm because they deemed it likely there could be fertility problems after treatment, but within a year or two he and his girlfriend had a lovely "surprise" as they hadn't bothered with protection, and now have an extremely handsome one-year old.Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -

Wow that's excellent news, thanks

After years of being on contraceptive injections, and all the ups and downs of letting it clear my system, OH and I have taken the big decision to start TTC.
It feels new and a bit scary, but really exciting too. I keep wondering what it feels like to be pregnant - trying to second guess things, and we've only been trying for a week!
I'm taking my TTC supplement religiously, and have cut out all sorts of things that are bad for you, so I'm all set and raring to go! :j
I'm permanently glued to the web, looking for info (which is how I found this forum). However, I'm confused by a lot of the abbreviations though... I know TTC (obviously), AF, CM and BBT, but such things as BFP and other assorted letters are a foreign language to me, which has put me off some other TTC sites. Please can anyone shed some light on these, or point me in the right direction?
Thank you, and good luck to all you other TTC-ers!0 -
I know how you feel, Annie! Maybe we could get some sort of glossary going...
So
AF=Aunt Flo (Period)
CM=Cervical Mucas
EWCM=Egg White Cervical Mucas (The consistency that will stetch between your fingers - ew!)
TTC=Trying to conceive
BBT=?
BFP=?
Copy and paste with extra help!Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -
