The nearest brothel here was raided and closed down a few months ago and now it has become a Lettings Agency.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Well I've just been told what pampas grass in the front garden means;) (ie Swingers 'R Us).

Yes, but if it's still combined with a pampas coloured bathroom suite, it means the swingers have well and truly swung off into the sunset....;)

I knew there was a moral here but was not quite sure what it was.

Anyway I decided I had enough when I noticed 3 nights in a row junkies sleeping rough just 1 minutes walk away, being asked on the street about "did I want a good time" and the police kicking in the door downstairs as the guy downstairs is a junkie with multiple arrest warrants, and this disturbed another tenant who I found out is mentally ill who started throwing furniture about and the walls are so thin you can hear neighbours conversation but also the window is still broken, shower broken (Well needed new hose which I got myself and was jammed) and I found out the roof has a bad leak and the shop downstairs was flooded a few weeks ago but LL refused do repair it been given a £200 water bill which must be paid instantly and landlord had set his own rates for electric oh and when I tried using a double plug socket in the kitchen it didn't work and started crackling, and did I mention the fridge has a broken support so can barely open the door, and the oven is so dirty it has rusted and caked on food.

I managed to find out a relatives friend needed a lodger and was willing to be fair and charge me the same rent but including water, council tax, electric, wifi and they have a beautiful house.

Did try and negotiate with the landlord as I am paid up for another 5 weeks at moment but he went on the agressive telling me he will sue me, its good enough whats the problem then when I said I wanted to move he shouted "do what you want"

Don't know what to do now, I did take the person up on their offer but worried he will contact my next of kin and harass them and I will owe money for the remainder of contract.
  • Taste the grouting - if it's salty run a mile.

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little.
  • The place sounds absolutely charming (not!) by the time you've told us the rest of what it's like:eek:

That offer of alternative accommodation you've been made sounds like a bargain - grab it with both hands.

Hopefully - someone else will be along soon to say what your options are re whether it's possible to get back advance rent paid on your current place.

Have you paid any sort of deposit to your current landlord?
  • Nice find, and at those rates you can put some money aside to put into local businesses ;) Now stop gloating
