Just a bit panicky, wondered why rent was so cheap in my property £50 a week rent but I have to cover water and utilities council tax, when I was googling to get my postcode online I found news articles about local prostitution.
I did joke to myself that I saw 3 "saunas" in the street that meant they were for sex but I didn't realise how right I was!
Theres one next door!
And even my neighbours in the house are druggies/alcoholics.
I knew it was too good to be true.
Just a little panicky now and want a little discussion and also just want to know what people would do in the situation.
I should of guessed no deposit and cheap rent was too good to be true.

I guess it depends a bit on what the area as a whole is like - ie if its a "reasonable" sort of area apart from them then you stand a chance of getting rid of them. So - lots of anonymous reporting later to anyone/everyone "official" that might be interested.
If it's a dive of an area as a whole - then that makes life more difficult. Courtesy of "reasonable" area means home-owners up in arms determined to maintain their house prices, etc.
What type of area as a whole is it?0 -
Take a deep breath, and try to not panic.
It isn't ideal, but equally, it's not the end of the world.
The bigest probnlem is likely to be that you may be disturbed by people coming to the wrong adress. If you find that that happens, then it may be worth puting a notice on the door saying something like "This is a private home. If you are looking for a sauna or other services, you're in the wrong place"
The other issue may be that you or your guests may be accosted or propositioned going to or from your home - a loud "Get away from me" or "F-off" is quite effective. Years ago when I was a student, some of my friends found that they had made the same mistake. They actually spoke to the prostitutes and found that was surprisingly efective. The conversation was along the lines of "we don't want any hassle, but we don't want people comingto our door and we dont want to be propisitioned in the street,". It wasn't in the interestes of the sex wrokers to have them calling the police or making any public complaint, so they did their best to ensure that my friend's weren't bothered - and they found that other kinds of crime were pretty low, as the brothels tended to have 'security'.
It's not somewhere you'd pick as a long term home but it may not be as bad as you thought, short term.
You could also make enquiries with the local police as to whether there is anything they can do, and of course if there is excessive noise you can contact the councilAll posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
I couldn't say if it was a rough or good area, its right next to main train station in town and around loads of bars and clubs and from the outside just looks like a generic area where you expect to find say people on benefits living.
Looks a little dirty but not quite run down.
Though notice a lot of regeneration done in recent years with old bars and houses knocked down and some new buildings around corner.
Actually now I think of it I did wonder why the nice house across the road (new windows and painted well next to other sauna) had a sign saying just that "this is a private residence" think it mentioned about not being disturbed too.0 -
If something seems too good to be true, it probably is.0
