Moved in next to brothels!

No, nothing of that sort for me, unless you count the amoeba. It really was quite dire.
Some of my friends were taught biology by a trendy young lady teacher, who came to school on a scooter. Definite street cred. They were lucky, getting both rabbits and Mendel. We had an embarrassed young bloke with a beard....
I could go on, but off topic....0 -
Dave, you are becoming more like Grandpa Simpson......0

I've lived next door to a brothel and above a brothel (both in my student days!) Never had any trouble. Although when we were above the brothel at first we did have the odd person ring the wrong bell. We just stuck a note up on the bellpush and that stopped.
What was far worse was one of our friends going to the wrong door when they were coming to visit us - she didn't expect the door to be opened by a young lady wearing very little!
I did REALLY feel sorry for the young bloke who moved into the flat below us when the sex workers moved out though...when we went down to introduce ourselves he asked if we knew the previous residents. We told him it had been a brothel and he said "Well...it explains all the people ringing the bell at all hours, and......this" and then took us into the sitting room, which came complete with a wooden stage that had a roll-out double bed beneath it!!! We laughed so hard at the time, but the poor lad didn't get much peace!Mortgage - £[STRIKE]68,000 may 2014[/STRIKE] 45,680.0 -
This is a case of being stuck between the proverbial knock and a hard place.0

Our biology teacher had to do the whole birds and bees talk. We were a bit horrible with the anonymous written questions as someone found out she had to leave her previous school when she was found in a compromising position with a male teacher who happened to be married. I suppose they thought our all female school was a safe environment for her but she did get alot of questions about the morality of relationships outside marriage and I have never seen a teacher blush such a fetching shade of red.Sell £1500

Hmmm...I'm obviously not getting all the neighbourhood gossip quite yet - as I've not heard a word about any of that sort of "action" round here. I could tell you quite a lot about what the local would-be "great and good" are up to (and I gather there is a lot more I've yet to hear on that front...) but not a dicky bird on that topic...
I've probably not worked out the local "dress code" for that sort of thing here - only got as far as clicking that it's about two levels higher on the "cover up" clothing front for all women here compared to what I'm used to seeing...higher necklines/more layers of clothing/etc. Thought suddenly struck me that it's a good job that I spend most of my time in jeans and am prone to the current scarf around throat fashion at the moment - as maybe my usual way of dressing IS the local "dress code" for "on the game" - whoops!
I think it is unlikely to be street prostitution where you live, no need these days with people able to make contact through the internet. No crime no problem. The sort of people who want to get involved in street prostitution would probably go to a nearby city.
I know some prostitutes in the area I grew up in commuted to London to work, about 100 miles away. Saves embarrassment. On the other hand when I was working with Vice Squad I was looking through the previous nights arrests one day and saw a girl I used to work with in a local supermarket, we were Saturday girls. I did feel sorry for her as she wasn't the brightest of girls and her boyfriend, well if you can call him that, was exploiting her. So obviously some people don't fancy the commute.Sell £1500

Well I've just been told what pampas grass in the front garden means;) (ie Swingers 'R Us).
I never knew that before:rotfl: - and there is some around here....so maybe they don't feel the need to pay...ahem...
Or, on the other hand, it could just be one of those "more old-fashioned than I'm used to" things - ie it was a 1970s fashion I gather.0 -

Me neither! But yep...stated by one poster on another thread and a second one confirmed that she had known of some in someone's garden (and ...yep...they were...).
Amazing what you learn on MSE sometimes:rotfl:
I'm so glad there was none in my front garden when I moved in - as I'd be out there right now digging it up personally:rotfl:0
