He would only have to put her in the position she was in when she ''forget'' to take them from his house. Second hand units is what he would owe her.
from a civil law point of view - totally correct.
He may face criminal charges too, but I think that's unlikely.0 -
Wow - that escalated quickly!
For some reason I didn't get any email notifications since this morning so I didn't realise there were so many replies.
A few things to add, though as someone said, what the items are isn't relevant so I don't know why I'm adding to it.
My camera equipment was probably worth £10,000 new. £5,000 is my estimated value that it would cost to replace now.
I have so much as my degree was photography and I bought a lot on buy now pay later as I worked in a camera shop while I was studying. I have the old credit agreements for a lot of them and could probably contact them for copies if needed.
It's not one item worth £5,000 which is why it's not listed on my insurance as one item wasn't worth enough on it's own. There's one body, a flash, and 4 lenses as well as some accessories.
I did think I had moved it with all the rest of my photography stuff and in human error didn't realise that it wasn't there until a friend asked me to take some baby photos for her.
Christmas was also in the middle of this and then my ex's father died (his dad lived in America so he had to fly there for several weeks to sort that out). He only got back a few weeks ago which is when I gave him the time limit before I'd call the police.
I think the main reason he won't let me round is because he knows I've moved on and he's told me he's sorting his life out and he's sorted the flat out from the state it was. I suspect it's just like when I left or worse and he doesn't want me to see.
Bottom line, I just want to sort it out so I can take photos again, being unhappy before I left meant I wasn't interested in taking photos as much so now I'm happier and moving on I'm feeling inspired again but can't so anything!
Not a scam - I can't believe how much people have jumped to conclusions, I suppose I should have known better!0 -
Rental agreement in 2011 in both names. DH has poor credit history, what's the chances of them moving and getting agreement in his name only? Seems inconsistent.anon123456 wrote: »am I the only one thinking this?..
OP was living in a rental property with her husband, her name not on the lease and has left him high and dry to pay the rent on his own.
I'd consider myself lucky i'm not paying half the bills still...Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

He's lived in the flat (housing association) since 2001. I moved in in 2008 and he declared me living there. In 2011 (when I posted before about a loan; which I assume is what you're referring to) I thought I was on the agreement. I found out later it didn't add me to the agreement just as living in the property. I had to go to the office and take ID etc to be added and in the end I didn't need to so we just left it how it is.
I now private rent and the only debt / credit history I have is what he left me with on my current account.0 -

I feel like I'm repeating myself!
I didn't say his issues meant I couldn't involve the police, just that I wanted to give him time to look for my stuff to be nice about it.
I didn't say we are on good terms, just that it's not bad terms at the moment.0 -

Oh now the equipment is worth ten thousands pounds rather than five thousand.
Insurance companies can see through deviant claims im sure. It is like me saying my engagement ring is worth three thousand but I then tell them its now eight thousand hmmm indeed.Britain is great but Manchester is greater0
