Hi everyone!
Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place.
I split from my husband and moved out in Oct last year and realised I hadn't got my cameras (worth about £5000) shortly after I moved. They are definitely not in my new house and he is claiming he doesn't have them.
Does anyone have any advice on what to do next? We are on ok terms at the moment but he's adamant he can't find them. I can't afford to replace what's missing and I'm wondering if house insurance would cover it? I switched insurers when I moved though. Should
I contact the police and report it to them?
I'd rather not let things get sour with him but I have warned him I'd possibly go to the police and I've given him 2 weeks to look.
Thanks!
Dru

As things are amicable between you, can't you just drop round and look for them yourself?0

We're on talking terms but he won't let me go round. When I collected my stuff originally he just brought it all out and wouldnt let me in.0 -
I wouldn't be surprised if he's sold them already. It just sounds pretty cagey, when you say he's adamant they're not there and won't let you in.
All you can do is stay true to your word, and contact the police if you here nothing within two weeks, and then they can investigate further.0 -

I think that's a possibility, I'll call tomorrow I think.0 -

I know a few people who have turned up with police to get their stuff. Chances are he has still got them or has sold them. It might not be worth souring the relationship by pushing it tbh..
I take it the house is in his name only so you have no right of access?LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

I think you've left it far too late to contact the police but I suppose there's no harm in trying.
I don't know if I agree it's been too long, is there an actual time limit? It's been ongoing and I've been trying to be nice about it to keep things civil.0 -

It was rented in his name. He owes me a lot of money in other places that I'm letting go but I need my cameras and can't afford to replace them.0 -
You should definitely follow through on the police threat .. But be prepared to find they are long gone.. I don't know if there's an actual time limit but I'm sure the police will ask why you've left it 6 months before reporting it, particularly as you think everything's amicable between you.0
