Because I think a permanent ban for life is a very harsh way of doing things.

But it's Amazon's policy, they choose to not do business with some people.

If you had your own business you would have a similar policy to not deal with customers who for example failed to pay up.

You have the same choice to not buy from Amazon.
    Just deal with it.

When I used to work for Electronics Boutique/GAME about 15 years ago they offered a 10 day return policy on all console games. Was there so you could pay £45 for a game, but if for any reason you didnt like it you could return it.

One customer treated it like his personal rental service. Exchanged game after game after game.....about 15 in total and always on the 9th day. In the end the manager took him aside and explained that he was abusing the system and that he could no longer take advantage of that facility. He never shopped there again, which was no great loss to the business.

Im all in favour of companies taking the hardline against consumers that abuse the system.

And I bet other customers did the same too.

I remember the policy as I recall doing the same on a couple of games.

Hi dragonsoup that is good to hear. Perhaps you did not hit the 8 - 10% return/exchange rate or maybe Amazon look at additional info before issuing a warning or ban.
There seem to be 2 different opinions on the web with regards to Amazon's actions. Some people agree with what they are doing while others think that their actions are harsh and then start to worry about their accounts/returns rate. Make what you will of it. I only posted this on the MSE site as the latest case of Greg Nelson has gone viral and everybody is talking about it. Once again my own viewpoint is that it's a harsh way of doing things and a genuine customer can and will get caught out by this. Nothing more to really say on the subject personally :)

You do have a habit of exaggeration soul1! ;)

Hi tomtontom, have to disagree with you there as there is a video on Yahoo.com Finance with an American news programme discussing this latest Greg Nelson case. I tried to post the link, but unfortunately the forum site will not let me do it. I'm sure those of you who know your way around the web will be able to find it. Thanks :)

Clearly your skills in using the internet tomtontom seem to be lacking and need some work imho. 'Gone viral' and 'everyone's talking about it' is what you are exaggerating.

I think it's more a slow news day (top hits are metro and the sun... Hardly purveyors of breaking important news) and the only person I see talking a bout it, is you...
