Hi foxtrotoscar, I'm afraid it's going to be a needle in the haystack thing as it was somewhere in the comments posted on a particular website with regards to this latest case of Greg Nelson being banned. Will try to look for it, but cannot guarantee as to whether or not I will find it. Sorry :(

Just to add that I read on another forum site of one customer who regularly ordered books from Amazon and half the books that he ordered were delivered damaged. However because he was scared of being potentially banned, he just kept all the books. Seems to me that Amazon is now ruling by fear which again is the wrong way to run a responsible business.

That must have been an April fools post!

Then that is absolute undeniable proof that there is a conspiracy theory .

Although I can't work out why that poor person is being sent all the damaged books when most of us only get the odd damaged one very very occasionally.

Aye, I can't remember when I last had a damaged book from amazon, except for when it had been a third party seller or second hand.

Even paperback graphic novels have arrived ok.
About the worst damage is the odd dented slip cover.

So someone failed to return his damaged items because he was "afraid of being banned as a buyer"?

Anyone with any sense would have banned himself as a buyer if all he ever received was damaged goods!!!

Sorry, but this whole thread is just nonsense.

Hi those are your opinions and I totally respect that. I'm at a loss myself as to why this particular buyer kept on buying books from Amazon a lot of them arrived damaged. Perhaps it was the price of the books that Amazon was charging which made him feel that he had no other choice but to keep on buying. Who knows. As previously mentioned I've read about these issues on many forums related to Amazon whereby books are arriving with bent covers etc. Now you may call some of those customers fussy but who are we to judge them. I myself have experience a number of cd/dvds arriving damaged and broken because of poor packaging by Amazon. Should I just accept those items? Also to say that this whole thread is nonsense when Amazon have withheld this gentleman's gift card balance is just wrong imho

Just to add this thread is about Amazon banning customers for returns. It is not about the person who received a lot of damaged books from Amazon and kept on buying. If this thread is nonsense, then why did Watchdog investigate this last year?

Watchdog investigate all sorts. It does not mean the company is in the wrong, it just means people have complained about it, and it's attracted some attention.

People complaining does not mean they are correct

Hi marliepanda thanks for your reply. Whether they are correct or not is a different matter but the fact remains that Amazon will ban you if you exceed their returns limit. This apparently can happen very quickly if you return high value electrical items. Just imagine if you buy a high end laptop and it arrives damaged or faulty. Amazon will replace it. If the next one arrives damaged or faulty then you risk being banned by Amazon if you return it. The problem might not be with Amazon but the company that delivers the item. Amazon will not take that into account. If their system detects that you have exceeded the returns limit then you will be banned. Again there are numerous cases on the Web when Amazon customers have been banned very quickly for returning high value electrical items. Again I don't agree. Just my humble opinion.

I don't believe that is the case. Show me someone who has returned two laptops for being faulty and got banned.

All I see is people consistently returning high value items over and over, and returning high volumes of items.

Have you ever heard of ebays blocked bidder option. That's the same.

Amazon can refuse to deal with whoever they want, for any reason. Most businesses like money so only get rid of customers who are costing them money...

You said you were going to shop elsewhere in 2014. Change your mind?

I don't think genuine customers have anything to worry about. Anyone who claims that 10% of the goods they received are faulty is either extremely unfortunate or trying to play the system.

The problem is amazon has become a bit of a flea market, I send a lot of stuff back because its misdescribed [they're information is sometimes atrocious], i've had cheap chinese goods dying on me, i've had items arriving scratched or defective, i've had damaged packaging.

I feel like half my life is sent returning to Amazon. :(

I only use amazon and fulfilled by amazon, no third party sellers.
