I wonder how they rate my returns? Ordered some books one arrived having looked like someone had shoved a screwdriver through the spine.

Replacement had the cover and several pages folded with bad creases.

replacement was the first book back...

Packaging was perfect everytime so they were obviously in that condition before being packed.

    Packed by hand or computerised?

Amazon have always banned those that they feel abuse their returns policy.

He's returned over 10% of his purchases. Clearly Amazon don't agree with his reasons

In my time I've probably returned over 10% of my purchases.. I definitely once have had them contact me and in an email it basically said "We've noticed you are returning lots of goods, is there anything we can do to make your experience better?"

But obviously I knew this was a passive threat and so I laid off the returning for some time.

I love Amazon because the returns are relatively easy, and sometimes you just want to see what an item is like to make a decision on buying it or not. The returns process of big companies like Amazon make this possible. But of course I understand that it must cost them a lot to service the easy returns, but its also why they get my business.

You said you were going to shop elsewhere in 2014. Change your mind?

I don't think genuine customers have anything to worry about. Anyone who claims that 10% of the goods they received are faulty is either extremely unfortunate or trying to play the system.
Hi tomtontom, nice to meet you. Yes definitely I will not be making anymore purchases from Amazon. Reason being is that in my opinion Amazon don't package their products adequately and well enough. I have ordered a few high end phones from Amazon and one came very poorly packaged. Recently I ordered some cds from Amazon and guess what the cases were broken. I have bought cds from Ebay and market sellers through Amazon and never have the cases been damaged. Have a look at the reviews on computer hardware bought directly from Amazon. You will see how many people have ended up with damaged or DOA items as Amazon has no regard or appreciation of how to package items securely and safely. Then when you return these items Amazon does not like it and bans you. Not a very fair way of doing business imho.

I have bought in the region of 100 items over the last 2 years from Amazon, including a 55 inch TV. I have never had an issue with anything being damaged in transit.
Any issues I've ever had have always been dealt with very well. For example, my TV should have been delivered the following day. However, somebody there changed the delivery to the following week, but because it was their mistake they offered me a £90 discount!

Just to add that I read on another forum site of one customer who regularly ordered books from Amazon and half the books that he ordered were delivered damaged. However because he was scared of being potentially banned, he just kept all the books. Seems to me that Amazon is now ruling by fear which again is the wrong way to run a responsible business.

Half of the deliveries, I find that hard to believe.

I've never had a problem returning anything to Amazon, even when ordering duplicate items (e.g. footwear) in different sizes to ensure good fit. But then I probably order something 2-3 times a week and can count on one hand how many items have been returned in the past year.

Then that is absolute undeniable proof that there is a conspiracy theory .

Although I can't work out why that poor person is being sent all the damaged books when most of us only get the odd damaged one very very occasionally.

Same here most items direct from Amazon are received in one of their own boxes and on opening are well packed still in the original manufactures packaging, the only time packaging may occasionally be poor is if from marketplace sellers.
