I've spent most of the day in bed with a migraine but got up to go out for dinner with DH and the kids for his birthday. This does mean though that I haven't filled my car up with petrol so I will have to go tomorrow so no NSD tomorrow either.

So my 2 things for today are going out for a nice meal with my family and drying some washing on the line.

Hope everyone's well - I have read but not taken a lot in.

Sorry your not well. Migraines sound really horrible.

A SFD. Filing is happening (currently taking a break as mu back is aching) will be completed before bedtime. Some bedroom tidying and second lot of washing just finishing (one more load, maybe 2 before bed).

Today I am grateful for lamb (lovely dinner put together in about 10 minutes as everything had been prepared before it went in the freezer. This is the last of the lamb bought for last Easter.
Ice cream - DS3 is planning a sleepover for his birthday (not sure how this fits in with builders etc) but he now has 7 pots of B&J cookie dough waiting for his guests
Clearing the bed - it looked impossible about a week ago and with no light in there have been spending a lot of time downstairs. All the little bits must have added up and it just happened (only 2 sheets on now)

    Things that made me happy
The Indian Doctor - stumbled across it on i-player and enjoying it (don't need it on all the time so can play games and check e-mail at the same time
Sunshine - even though I haven't been out much (multiple trips to the bins) golden light is making me happier and more hopeful.
My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.

  • Well we are all sorted for going back to work, uni & school tomorrow.
3 packed lunches ready in the fridge one for each of us. I have made up a tiny tupperware pot of coffee and powdered milk so I only need to add hot water from the canteen to my travel mug.

Had a lovely lazy morning sitting in bed with dh reading and drinking tea.

    Today I am grateful for:
    * laughter and chatting over dinner.
    * DH being happy in new job and looking forward to going in tomorrow. Last few months in old job were stressful

Have a good week everyone

    Evening all

Hope your migraine has lifted julie

    That's amazing bob

Today started off positive, except a lingering headache from yesterday. Prepped my tutoring and even took receipt of a second hand freezer that someone was giving away. Then it all went wrong - headache turned into back and muscle ache and a huge swollen abdomen. I've managed a little water and two toast all day but now can't keep anything down :( Can't think what has caused it :(

Off to bed, I'm supposed to be back in school tomorrow!

    WEEK 1 challenge-Your health - Update!!

I weighed myself yikes 13st ( not expecting you to disclose your weight) if you want to look fab for summer just state weight you want to lose this month 7lbs for me.
I will be weighing myself this weekend in preparation of my new way of eating which starts next week. I will post when I know, it isn’t going to be great though – I am guessing 11stone (or more). I want to lose at least 7lb as well. So my starting weight last Tues was 11st 1lb, I will be following 5:2, I have done a week and it was ok. I am logging all food on MFP and it’s an eye opener for sure. I will weight myself on Thurs after I have completed my 2nd fast day of the week.

In this section we get to grips with all those regular check ups we have been avoiding. e.g. Opticians, Dentists, Find out if you are due for any general screenings or vaccinations.
Regular check ups are important could save your life. I need to get myself to the GP for some o/s gynae issues but have been putting it off. I must get an appointment booked this week. My dental appt is overdue, they cancelled back in Feb and I said I would call to rebook and haven’t bothered. Oops big fail, I did see the GP about my 3 week sore throat but have not sorted my gynae issues or booked the dentist. I need a week off and will then fit it all in.

Eating habits can you do better
? Vegetables/fruit are cheap at moment with supermarket wars. Aim to eat at least 5 a day. Cut out sugary foods, save money and have perfect looking skin. Have you enough Iron, minerals in your diet?
I am going to start the 5:2 diet this week so will up my fruit and veg intake on my normal days. Trying to eat loads of fruit and veg on my 5 days but could do better.

Exercise If you able join in I am aiming to walk at least 1hr a day, can't afford gyms, exercise classes. Do want you feel comfortable doing, we don't want wounded turtles clogging up the naughty step.
Will see if I can do more than my usual. The light evenings now mean that instead of own journey up to our field each evening we have to do 2, we go up earlier to feed the pigs before their bed time of 6.45pm and then back up at 8pm to lock the chickens up.

Have a pamper session at home pay attention to those feet, exfoliate use all the xmas pressies up. Skin will be on show soon.
My feet are so bad in winter so I have started moisturising daily to try and improve them. My feet are amazing, even DH said how lovely they feel.

    Keep your mind active
, jigsaws, reading, quizzing, chatting to new people, join local interest groups, whatever works for you.
Will have to find something to do. Oops, another fail, not done this yet.

Finally I apologize now, I haven't gone mad with this challenge I want us able and ready to cope with everything life throws at us.We want you fighting fit for the financial challenges in the weeks ahead.
    Thanks calling!

Looking forward to Week 2's challenge - I was bored at work on Friday and started looking at the cost of our Sky package which fits in nicely with this weeks challenge so need to really sort that this week.

Reporting in some more NSD's - Weds and Thurs were NSD's.
Fri I had to buy throws for the new sofas and Sat I had to pay for the new sofas which were then delivered in the afternoon.
Today has been a NSD so I am up to 6 so far.

My lovely things for yesterday are:
    1. A local jumble sale where I got some lovely clothes for me and DD and supported a good cause.
    2. A chance of a natter with my 2 aunties who were also at the jumble sale.

    Todays' things are:
    1. Getting on to the allotment and actually starting to dig (I did a small amount but it was too claggy really but I have had the plot a year and it has taken that long to tidy it and clear all the brambles so I really feel like I am getting somewhere)
    2. Gluten free puff pastry - it's the only thing I miss about not eating gluten, Asda now sell ready made puff pastry so I got some last month and made a gorgeous vegetable pie tonight (the others had a beef pie with normal puff pastry)

    Have a good week everyone!!!
