Some people manage to spread their rest more or less evenly through the week or month. Others burn the candle at both ends and then catch up - doesn't necessarily mean they are any lazier overall.

I'm neither shocked nor surprised at the OP - its one day, at the start of school holidays, and its a teenager.

Its not in the OP that its every day, that would be more of an issue.

I was working weekends as well as at school at aged 13, and you can bet when I did get a day off I slept late - occasionally until lunchtime and later if I could get away with it!

Exactly, same here! Totally normal teenager OP.

Probably did it more so when I was 16 and at college though, and especially if I'd been out the night before! Sometimes I would stay in bed until 2.30-3pm. Hasn't done me any harm though, as even though I'm more a night owl, I still get up early nowadays.

But they're not asleep - it says they're playing games in their pyjamas. (I think that's perfectly normal for start of holidays).

    Perfectly normal on occasion.

I often stayed in bed beyond 12pm as a teenager! Other days I'd be up at 6am to go for a run!
I don't see it as an issue at all unless it is a daily occurrence and they are not attending school/going to work etc.

In fact I had a 'duvet day' yesterday ;).... I only ventured out of my bed to use the bathroom or get a drink or some food ...it was great and just what I needed :)

For a day or two, fine, but I'd try not to let it continue - by scheduling some early morning activities worth getting out of bed for. Wouldn't bring them food though, except as a one off major treat!
  • Normal. Don't let the scaremongers who think that all children should be bouncing off the walls doing all sorts of practical, creative activities every waking moment worry you.

Balance is good. Last Saturday I was up at 6am, but if I've had a demanding week, I'm quite happy to have a quiet weekend which includes sleeping in until I wake naturally and don't care if that's at noon. It's over 30 years since I was 13, I'm a grown up with a job and a mortgage and everything!

You won't find me in PJs all day though, I don't own any "night clothes".

I mean it is normal for teenagers to lie in bed all day but 3:30 IS a bit extreme. However if its first day of holidays etc then I guess its ok? If they were ASLEEP til 3:30 I might find it a bit odd but if they're faffing around on ipad/watching tv/reading etc then I guess its just a duvet/pyjama day!
