You and others like you are pinning every single hope you have on stopping a second referendum or vote on the Tories making a hugely significant revival in Scotland to the extent they take more than half of all Scottish seats. This. is. not. going. to. happen. And it certainly didn't happen today despite high hopes of it at the start of the day.
I logged on to chortling about how myself and other indy posters were 'being quiet' and the silence is deafening..well you certainly don't seem to like it any more when we're not do you ? So make up your mind on that one.
The SNP now dominate in council elections, in Holyrood elections, and in Westminster elections. The request for a second indy ref still exists from the Scottish Parliament. A few Tory gains, if they happen in a few weeks time ? Changes nothing. You're pinning your hopes and Shaka's 'final nail's on gawd knows what because I sure still don't know what you are basing it on.
Just back from a charity night ran by a local SNP party ... they certainly were not quiet ... they are still partying ... they seem happy about the result, although they are not happy with the amount of Tory seats but they think that at least it gives them an idea what they are up against so delighted in so many ways0 -

It is all over.
From now until June the 8th, every newspaper, media outlet and other political party in Scotland is going to be pushing this vote share line to breaking point. In fact papers like The Herald have already started. But it doesn't really mean anything Shaka, not in this GE nor in any other in the past.. you just really hope it does. However it's always the seats that count in the end.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Wait for the vote share statistics on June 9th, then see how smug they all are after that.
Who gives a flying whatever about 'vote share statistics'. As long as the SNP get a majority of seats.Peter Murrellâ€Verified account
Biggest party in 16/32 councils
431 wins (+6)
75,000 more votes

Vote share is interesting ref independence as a 2nd referendum would be vote share based not seat based (I assume)Left is never right but I always am.0

This GE is all about independence in Scotland.
Do you honestly think you can still argue for indyref2 if you (and possibly the greens combined) if you don't get pretty damn close to 50% share of the vote.
If as I suspect the SNP+Greens get less than 40% it is all over you can huff and you can puff all you like but that will be your reality.0 -
Firstly as a democrat, and secondly as a Dundonian born and bred, I'm absolutely delighted following yesterday's results.
Truly looks like the beginning of the end0 -

I know the SNP victory of 155 seats more than their nearest rival is a crushing blow .. beginning of the end right enough
wonderfull stuff0 -
The SNP are the largest single party on my council, losing one seat, and claiming a victory. The Conservatives and Independents each have one less, but most SNP councillors were elected at stages 4-7 and got where they are by fielding 2 candidates in many wards. The Conservatives were all elected at stage 1 in all of the 8 wards, the SNP getting 3 joint 1s - much worse than 2012. It will be interesting to see the raw 1s data. Strangely at the last Holyrood election they talked down the elected Conservative MSP and claimed he was only there because of the "system" !
We got a mention in the National UK news this morning, Nicola pooping herself looking forward to the GE as our council is pretty much the same as the Westminster constituency.0 -
Well in Ferguslie park where th BBC are making quite a thing about the Tories getting a seat ... it's quite interesting
Here's Craigs take on it https://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2017/05/astonishing-tory-ferguslie-park-super-triumph/
I'm not sure about other places ... no doubt analysis will come out though through time0 -

I think you might need a new "cause" post June 9th.
Why not pick something of greater good to mankind than Scottish Independence?
The plight of the red squirrel maybe?0
