    It did in the end.

A few short months ago you were hanging your hat on the theory that Labour was imploding and the Tories were an electoral irrelevance in Scotland such was the historical antipathy toward them by Scots. That situation to you meant an inexorable march toward independence.
    You were wrong weren't you?

Just going by what STD suggested.

The SNP are going to have to rephrase their gripe about being ruled by Tories when no-one in Scotland votes Tory.

Jock, it's the BBC that's being naughty. The SNP took 425 seats in 2012... 431 in 2017. Do the maths and check it out for yourself. Then admit the BBC apparently has their numbers wrong.

    2012: 425
    2017: 431
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

Agreed - but so far they are proving to be stuck in their usual rut.
They will recycle their usual tactics because they know nothing else and then wonder why they lose seats in the general.

I know it is not a true reflection but it does give some pointers to where the SNP are (I will be interested to see the popular vote).

They have taken only 35% of the council seats that is not an endorsement for indyref2.

But let's see what the share of the popular vote is, I bet it is not a million miles away from 35%.

indyref2 is dead in the water and the final nail will come in June.

Edit:- I suspect we can't really generate a popular vote figure with the SVT system
Shaka, the SNP dominated these council elections with the Tories a distant second. The same will happen in a few weeks time. They also dominate in Holyrood again with the Tories a distant second.

What exactly IS this final nail supposed to be ? I'm lost with what you're trying to say to be honest.

Epically wrong, for the nth time. When you're consistently wrong wouldn't you reevaluate your views and projections and ask why?

    Not in NatLand.

They gained 6 from 2012. And I think Dundee needs to be taken in context.
Scotland Elects :- Scotland #LE2017 results by largest party in each council
    SNP 19 (+10)
    CON 4 (+2)
    IND 4 (-1)
    LAB 3 (-13)

    Boundary changes.

Ward boundaries to change in most of Scotland's councils

How can you not know that?

Your ignorance is quite shocking. But also rather amusing.:)

    Or as the BBC explains

In 2012, the SNP won 425 seats, Labour 394, the Conservatives 115, Lib Dems 71 and Scottish Greens 14 - but boundary changes mean direct comparisons between the two elections are difficult, with the total number of seats having also changed.

The BBC calculates overall seat changes based on notional 2012 results, which estimate what the results would have been then if the new boundaries had been in place.

P.S. I think it's about time I got paid by MSE for explaining such basic simple things to the Shakes.:)
