Anyone see the hapless SNP fella on QT last night left floundering when whilst in full 'grievance mode' he was asked why if he had a problem with the state pension didn't the SNP use the powers at Holyrood to change things?
Priceless.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
The best thing of election night would be...The SNP’s depute leader Angus Robertson is poised to lose his Westminster seat to the Conservatives at the general election, according to a new poll.

Would you want no opposition to hold the government to account?
It's very clear in PMQ that TM cannot respond well to the points that AR raises.
She does not get as tough a time from the main opposition party.
No wonder she is fearful of television debates.
Id rather Cameron was still the PM and delivered the referendum result the electorate voted for, but he (as many politicians seem to do) walked away and left others to pick up:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

The issue for me is that having only certain powers, does not allow for a full balanced budget to be achieved.
The Westminster mantra is, you have powers to raise this and that, but in a budget, you may need powers elsewhere you want to reduce and may not available.
This is why for me, powers are hard to be implemented until full autonomy is in place:wall:

I'd rather Sturgeon and the SNP delivered the referendum result the electorate voted for, a decision for a lifetime (or a generation).0 -

I don't get it.
It's all very well to have a massive landslide for the snp in Scotland, but not one for the tories in the overall UK.
Don't see any of the nats on here moaning that the snp has too much power. In fact, quite the opposite.0 -

You're basically saying devolved government doesn't work. You always have this potential for conflicting arrangements between the different levels.
You might be right.
But the same argument applies on a bigger scale with the EU. There is always the potential for EU and national policy to conflict, and with an iScotland being a relative minnow if she joined the EU, you are just state fodder for the EUrocrats.
Like Ireland, the EU would let you hold as many referendums as you want ... until you deliver the right result!0 -

Cameron delivered on his promise. He went to the EU to renegotiate for different terms. Then held allowed a referendum to be held. Being an honourable man he accepted the result. Despite the fact he was in disagreement. Then walked the plank. Unlike other recent politicians he leaves with respect. Whatever ones personal view of him.0
