The Tory resurgence in Scotland is interesting and suits me just fine to detoxify the brand for after Indy.
But it's still gonna be a landslide SNP win.
No - it will be the overarching vote count that will be telling in this election as far as Scotland is concerned.
The SNP like to emphasise rheir result under FPTP election system for this ekection, are you not concerned that they will carry this "marriage of convenience" over to an iNatand in order to stay in power?
Incidentally, if the SNP drop 10 to 11 SMPs -- that will be more like a 20% shift that a 10% shift away from the SNP. That should please you, or would it?Union, not Disunion
I have a Right Wing and a Left Wing.

Come on you clever Scottish people. Show Sturgeon that she has now passed the "sell by date".
I do hope Ruth can show how strong, clever and honest she is.0 -
Sturgeon has blundered by suggesting that it's a two horse race between SNP and the Tories. That will simply ensure that Labour leavers will vote Tory in addition to SNP leavers who only lent their votes to SNP at the last election because they believed that the future of Scotland as a member of the Union had finally been settled.
I can see the SNP coming badly unstuck.0 -

Slow and steady has won nothing since Jun 2016. Yes is trending downwards, No is trending upwards.
Tricky you're clinging on to this as any of if it matters right now. A referendum or vote is at least two years off. This latest poll is a bit of an outlier, soooo far out of line with all others ( and with field work produced weeks ago ) it should be treated with extreme caution until there's a trend.
But there's no referendum vote next week, or even next year. And the polls two years before the last indy ref were truly horrendous for Yes I recall. There's no real point in obsessing endlessly and charts over independence polls at this point in time though.
We can wait till 2019 for that.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

I was just responding to the claim that support is on the up when clearly it's on the wain.
You've got a while to turn it around, with what arguments I don't know, but turn it around you must or as I previously said - you'll lose a 2nd and there won't be a 3rd for a very long time.0 -

Nah, the Tories want to turn this General Election into a defacto referendum on having another referendum so they can justify saying no to it. Seems Davdison already knew there was a GE election planned as well, since there have been leaflets dropping through ever door in Scotland obviously primed and ready to go daying 'No referendum, no referendum, no referendum'.
But the time for that was in Holyrood a few weeks back. It's too late. This GE is about the UK Govt. Holyrood has already expressed it's wishes and is very unlikely to deviate from that now. And certainly not with a right wing Tory Govt in place with a massive majority. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

So ? All that matters is that Scots voters at least get the choice between a Brexit UK with endless Tory Govt's ( they voted for neither of them ) or independence/'taking back control'. It's up to them to decide on which direction they want their nation to go, not you or May.. but they should at the very least be allowed that choice without question.
May is trying to lock Scotland into to a ( hard ) Brexit UK with her party in charge before Brexit negotiations and the results of those are even clear, without even a say on the matter. Which is what this GE in Scotland right now is really all about. Stopping Scots voters having a say on it by blocking a second vote, too scared of what the results might be in two years down the line.
Whatever happens in this GE won't stop Strugeon making sure Scots voters do get a say via Holyrood. And if staying in a Brexit UK with Tories in charge really is what most Scots want in two years time then we'll all have to get on, live with that and make the best of it.
Locking Scotland into this whole Brexit thing right now at this point in time ? Down to possibly losing a few Westminster MP's and what vastly conflicting opinion polls say ? Isn't going to happen. I am sorry but you shouldn't get too distracted either by this GE or by independence polls at this point in time. There's lots of drama to be had sure, but ulitmately neither matter much in the long run.
After this GE we all turn attention back to May and what she gets or not from Brexit. And Sturgeon still has that referendum bill primed and ready to go.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0
