... oh now, that's enough about David Davies, no running commentaries and Theresa May swanning about Saudi for the last few days selling bombs instead of getting on with running the UK. This is a Scotland thread.

Sturgeon's speaking at the UN tonight ( love to be a fly on the way behind the scenes on that one ). But don't worry, she's left plenty of MSP's in charge of their various departments getting on with their day jobs. She doesn't run the whole Govt personally you might be surprised to hear.

Actually, this is why Theresa May is in Saudi.

Sorry if this doesn't suit your agenda but what she's doing is much more useful than anything that the Scottish parliament has done lately with or without the Blessed Nicola. Remind me. What legislation has the parliament actually passed recently?

So a Saudi nationalised oil company decides to float to off load 5% of it's shares as a start of the Saudi vision2030 strategy (as it realises that oil is finished long term) and May is the one who has gone begging for them to float in London, and you think that's the "day job" of the PM of the UK?

I dread to think what she would do for a bit of cash when this is the official governments view of Saudi...

We remain concerned by the case of Raif Badawi, a human rights activist and blogger who was sentenced on 7 May 2014 to 10 years in prison, 1,000 lashes, a 10-year travel ban, and a fine of 1,000,000 Saudi riyals (approximately £206,000). After receiving 50 lashes in January 2016, subsequent lashes were postponed on numerous occasions, apparently on grounds of ill health.
We have some concerns over the rights of third-party nationals working in the Kingdom, mainly because existing legislation is not always fully enforced.

And yet May will run over there begging! Nice one cog :rotfl:

In the mean time Liam Fox is hailing our shared values with Philippine's Duterte. This is the guy who encourages civilians to kill drug addicts and boasts about throwing suspects out of helicopters.
    What a mess.
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

What does a blogger being thrown in prison have to do with the flotation of Aramco? It's just another ridiculous way of trying to beat up on the British Government. X is bad thus trying to get completely unrelated business from the person that did X is bad. It's not like May is trying to sell a job lot of whips to the House of Saud. It's a bit like getting cross with Tesco because that's where Jimmy Saville got his groceries.

Sturgeon doesn't get to make these foreign and business policy choices as she has no power in this sphere. If Scotland ever becomes independent then doing deals with nasty dictators will be part of the package. Until that glorious day you're stuck with the PM of the UK doing those deals on your behalf.

Shame you lost really, oh well. Next generation or lifetime you get another go. Sucks to be you.

Why bother when you can't answer the question, type a bit of noise then end it with an insult. :rotfl:

The finance sector pays a lot of taxes to the UK government. It needs to be nurtured to keep those taxes rolling in.
How do you think Scotland's annual £15Bn subsidy is paid for?
If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.

Do you honestly think May should be there trying to bag this deal?

Of course she should. Anyone with more than one brain cell can see that.
