Belgium, Italy, Spain and others all have potential break away regions on thier hands.
I cannot see them voting to allow Scotland entry, for years and years at least.
I'd be far more impressed with Scotland seeking full independence rather than looking for the next teat. Are you frightened of full autonomy of the kind other independent nations are comfortable with?
To be perfectly honest Conrad, I think Sturgeon will ask for the same thing the UK is apparently asking for. A transitional deal. Only in the opposite direction from the UK with full membership of the EU question put to Scots again later on.Alberto Nardelliâ€Verified account 8h8 hours ago
3) There is a question of interim: how can some argue UK can get a transitional deal, but Scotland can’t (when latter's would be simpler)?
With those debates out of the equation it will be up to both the Scottish Govt and Westminster to make their cases based on purely domestic political and economic grounds. Definitely better than other countries internal constitutional questions taking center stage for the next year or so and muddying the debates imo.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

The Barosso Doctrine applies.
The EU has made it very clear that an independent Scotland would have to reapply for membership. A position that was confirmed today by Margaritis Schinas (Chief Spokesperson of the European Commission) who said, “The Barroso doctrine, would that apply? Yes that would apply, obviously”.
I don't see any hypothetical independent Scotland having a major problem in rejoining the EU, at least once they have their deficit sorted out. But rejoin they will have to. Only nation states can sign up to the EU, EFTA, EEA whatever, independence is a precondition.0 -
V strange assumption, but whatever gives you solace
You know that strange assumption... I was wrong, it increased, dramatically.

You're getting excited when a village worth of people have clicked the button. Potentially half of Scotland could click it as the vote seems to be around 50-50 at the moment.
I hope you're not going to spam the thread with regular updates every time it ticks up a few clicks. :undecided0 -

No it was just a rebuttal to my assumption apparently being "very strange", except I code software for statistical analysis and have done so for over a decade, so it probably wasn't...0 -
