Plenty Edno change here
Have you made your mind up yourself ? Same as last time ?0 -
You're not in charge Tricky so none of what you would do if you were PM is at all relevant. Weren't you originally saying there would be no second referendum full stop? I am not sure of the timing and imagine TM will have a sunrise clause on the Section 30. Delaying it until after Brexit just makes the campaign even longer though so I'm not sure the benefits for her.
See Project Fear is gearing itself up - surely someone must've come up with a positive case for the Union by now?!
I'm aware I'm not.
It just helps you to have a perspective from someone who doesn't believe that an independent Scotland is the land of milk and honey for Scots and has no impact on anyone else in the union.
It would be entirely reasonable for TM to say not until Brexit is done. I also think it entirely reasonable for her to say no given that Scots voted in 2014, they also were aware of the Conservative manifesto at the time, and just because the SNP was elected to a regional assembly on the back of a manifesto pledge they have no authority to put into action up to its conclusion does not negate the reality of 2014 and what the UK as a whole will have to deal with over the next 2 years.
I fully expect you to be sad and bitter when the response to the section 30 request is heard.0 -
Sad and bitter? Shows how little you know of me Tricky
I'm not even 100% sure it is a good idea to have a referendum before Brexit - I've said that before. I think the timing is incredibly difficult to judge. As I said I fully expect there to be a sunrise clause, just not sure delaying past 2019 helps TM.0 -
The £84,000 donated might not even get used :rotfl:
That petition is going up by about 100 every 5 minutes. Extrapolated that would mean in about 8 1/2 hours it'll have to be responded to by Westminster, and in about 3 1/2 days it will have enough to be considered for debate to stop the referendum process before it has even begun. Assuming the rate of signatures neither increases or decreases.0 -

Delaying past Brexit, whenever that concludes, is in the interest of the citizens of the UK.
This is an unwanted complication to Brexit negotiations which the UK government is in control of. So it need not be a complication. I fully expect it not to be. I think she (Nicola) has jumped the gun.
I've said before that Scotland should get its economic ducks in a row, have the plan laid out, peer reviewed by all and sundry and behind a large number of indy positive polls indicating a consensus before actually having the referendum.0 -

V strange assumption, but whatever gives you solace0 -

Interesting times...
I think this will be a very different campaign with a more realistic approach to what would be ahead for an independent Scotland. I'm hopeful of more discussion on the kind of Scotland we might create, but that might be a bit optimistic on my part.0 -

What else are you supposed to do when doing fag packet calculations?
I find it hard to take that you think the assumption on the rate of signatories is a "V strange assumption" but that Scotland will be economically viable after independence is not, given the evidence to the contrary for the latter (your) assumption and the complete lack of evidence for the former (mine).0
