Before Brexit happens then, if it's to happen at all.Sturgeon: Autumn 2018 'common sense' for indyref2
Scotland's first minister has said autumn 2018 would be a "common sense" date for any second independence referendum.
Nicola Sturgeon continued to insist, however, that no final decision had yet been made on holding such a vote.
In a BBC interview she would take things forward at "the pace that I think is right for the country".
Got to agree, because it looks like the Conservatives are desperate to make sure it happens only after the UK leaves, even to the extent of agreeing a Section 30. This is a sure sign to any political party with Scotland's interests as a priority, that they should absolutely do the exact opposite. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
Yep I've said September 18 all along, the Yes groups are going to have to start getting serious though, there is still a lot of work to do.0

Getting there though hopefully..
9/3/17Half of Scots would back independence if a fresh referendum was held tomorrow, a poll for STV News has found. The survey, conducted by Ipsos MORI, has shown a rise in support for independence as the Prime Minister prepares to trigger Britain's exit from the European Union later this month. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has said a fresh referendum, following the UK-wide decision to leave the EU last year, is "highly likely".
Mark Diffley, Ipsos MORI Scotland director, said: "There has been much recent speculation about if and when there will be a second referendum on Scottish independence.
"In the immediate aftermath of the EU Referendum vote last June there was an increase in support for independence, which ebbed away later in the year.
"This poll suggests some modest movement back towards independence since we last measured opinion six months ago. It will certainly provide the SNP with a lift ahead of their spring conference in Aberdeen next week."
Almost half of Scots 48% said an independent Scotland should be a full member of the EU, while a further 27% backed a Norway-style option of full single market access but not full membership.Should Scotland be an independent country? Yes 50% No 50% via @IpsosMORI/@STVNewsIt all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

Dream on.
There won't be another indyref yet.Prime Minister Theresa May does not believe there should be a second Scottish independence referendum, her spokesman said on Thursday after the Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said such a vote could be held in autumn 2018."The referendum was held only 2014. It was a fair, decisive and legal vote, both sides agreed to abide by that and we think that both sides should and that the continued discussion around a second referendum is a distraction."0 -
To be fair, May and the other government officials have been pretty consistent on this position, even before Brexit.
Portillo made Salmond squirm by quoting his once in a generation comments.0 -
The tories have always been careful to say that of course Scotland could have a referendum, but they believe they shouldn't. Might demand certain timing, but May knows it would be a disaster to refuse all together.0

Looks like Nicola isn't so keen as some of her supporters.....Nicola Sturgeon continued to insist, however, that no final decision had yet been made on holding such a vote.
Until there's certainty of a positive outcome the sorry saga will simply drag on and on. That's why no one is taking her seriously.0
