This poem has never felt so relevant in my life than today, we've had bad times ... but Trump''s behaviour regarding "muslim" countries saddens me

As much as I hate pretty much everything he stands for, I can't help thinking there's a lot of spin on the reporting right now.

He hasn't introduced restrictions on Indonesia (largest Muslim population in the world) Pakistan (second), India (third) or Bangladesh (fourth) - so far from 'alienating every Muslim in the known universe' he has completely left alone the 43% of global Muslims living in those four countries alone.
I think he's trying to target 'terrorist countries' but using an awfully blunt instrument and ignorance to do it.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

If he's targeting terrorist countries then I imagine his first choice would have been Saudi Arabia ... seeing as how 15 of the terrorists from 9/11 came from there ... but then he has business dealings with Saudi Arabia so ....

I really don't want to defend him (or Saudi Arabia) but 9/11 was a while ago and Saudi is now working with the US to provide pre-visa vetting

Too blunt. Looks like even Tory MP's Brit citizens are banned as well based on where they were born.

What if you are British of Iraqi origin, as I am? A sad sad day to feel like a second class citizen! Sad day for the USA

Had confirmation that the order does apply to myself and my wife as we were both born in Iraq. Even if we are not dual Nat.
Still, as a Brexiteer it's not like he likes the idea of FOM much anyway is it ? :o
    Ben Riley-Smith
Number 10, Home Office and Foreign Office declining to comment on Trump ban impacting Brits. Uh oh.
It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?

The point I was making was that he is indeed being arbitrary with who he won't allow in but I don't think he's going for a specific religion rather countries.

I get what your saying ... but he doesn't get away with that when all those citizens were killed on 9/11 not a good enough excuse ... well at least it wouldn't be for me ... he has also decided to put his embassy in Israel which was a very devise anti Muslim decision to make

No, just pointing out the irony of someone who lauds and supports stringent controls on immigration, bleating about being treated as a second class citizen when someone else does it.

Anyway, worrying times. At the very least all those who were saying all that stuff about how he surely didn't mean any of it, and how when he got into office he'd calm it all down. Scales from eyes must be falling fast.

Terminal 4 in JFK is busy this evening ... it will be interesting to see how the Trump responds ...
