You cannot deny that armed conflict was forecast.
So Salmond "predicts" another indyref within two years, eh?
Ha ha, right.
Going by his past predictions no-one need trouble themselves about that possibility then, that's well & truly kiboshed that idea.
Support needs to be SEEN to be much higher before Westminster gives a go-ahead.
And don't even go down the "advisory" road .......... even Sturgeon realises that support needs to be much higher than it currently is.
Because if she gets it wrong, that's her finished too.0 -

Does it make the Remain argument any less ridiculous? No. Any more true? No.
Thanks. Whether it will prove to be true or not, only time will tell.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

It's complete rubbish.
Peace on the continent has been provided by NATO, not the EU.
If NATO comes crashing down because of Trump, then lets not blame Brexit if war comes to pass with no NATO.0 -

given you ignore the role of USA and you generally rubbish everything the UK does, then EU27 are barely effected by brexit so the security of the continent is in safe hands.0 -
Corbyn successfully losing more Scottish votes for labour today, I imagine even Kez must be exasperated with him0

You've abandoned all the arguments (presumably because you know your on the wrong side there) and will peddle lies and deceit like the rest of the SNP and the indy movement to achieve your aim. Your excuse being "it worked for Brexit", yet ask people who voted to leave on here if they voted for lies, ask them why they did it and take a look at what Brexit is looking like so far. You'll have a rude awakening if you think people voted for lies.
Like I said many pages ago - you're doomed to failure down this road. Your only hope of winning was to successfully address the issues people would be concerned about regarding independence. You haven't, indy haven't, the SNP haven't, and none will in my opinion given their stellar track record on doing so thus far.
Indy 2 (if it even happens!) will be the failure to end the movement until your children are drawing a pension. :T
Err. It was a joke ? Lighten up. :A
However so glad to see the SNP address this trade with rUK/border question at last. Johanna Cherry on Daily Politics, and Salmond on Radio 4 this morning both stating that Scotland is England's biggest export market. I saw a few tweets today too.
I had a dig about because neither of the above are prone to making statements that they cannot back up with figures ( people may disagree with the figures or the premise of the statement of course ).. however Salmond in particular isn't usually someone who makes statements like these without some figures to show his working.
I couldn't find anything as when I type in "England exports to x,y or z", only UK figures come up along with oodles of Scottish ones. How weird is that ? There's hardly any figures anywhere for England/Wales.
Then I found this discussion on Reddit Scotland. It's not comprehensive, but here's the BBC from 2014. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-28916642 50.5b Scotland exports to rUK, 62.5b Scotland imports.
In other words a hard border between the 2 with no trade at all would improve our trade balance by 12b, and damage rUK by the same amount. Both could be replaced in part internally (ie financial services which I suspect is a big chunk) but there's some stuff which couldn't.Good find. There's also this (also from 2014) which says:
The top export destinations of the United Kingdom are- the United States ($51B)
- Germany ($46.5B)
- the Netherlands ($34.2B)
- Switzerland ($33.6B)
- France ($27B)
So TL;DR:- rUK -> Scotland is £62.7b and all UK -> USA (the UK biggest export country) is $51B at least for 2014 figures (more up to date figures would be handy right enough).
next batch of export data released is a week today.
Ps learn to take a joke from time to time. You surely couldn't have thought I was serious about Braveheart being 100% based on fact ? There's no way Mel Gibson is tall enough to be William Wallace. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

Scotland is probably rUK's biggest export country. How.... enlightening. I expect this one will take legs every time the trade with rUK is worth x4 times/hard border etc thing comes up. Is it true do you think ?

Fantasy island now.
60m+ people export more to 5m people than they do to the rest of the world do they?0 -
Could be a bit sticky for the SNP if they hold out too long.
Last thing they want to do is fight for independence if the negotiations start to look like a deal is happening.
double edged sword really.
Either vote to leave when a deals almost on the table to keep some SM access.
Or vote to leave when there's no deal on the table and cast yourself adrift before (maybe) joining the very organisation that will force you to not have a deal with your biggest customer.
Tough call Nicola. Best to crack on and do it now before you have the rug pulled even further from underneath you.0
