Not sure what it all means... but it'll be difficult for The Express to headline it as a SLAP DOWN, or that Salmond has been RIPPED APART. Which they kind of, and not it the best of taste, like to keep saying about Sturgeon.
The award was nice. Their first ever.
Junker looks forward to Scotland's £2 million per day club fee, after all you're awash with free money...0 -
Aye that's the headline Shakey. .. I like it0

Oaft you've missed the point. Folks have been all over this thread for ages going on like the toothache about how the Eu will snub Scotland etc acting like it's 2014 all over again.
This winds you all up.I have no idea what's going to happen next any more than you do. Sturgeon will be releasing her plans in the next few weeks for a separate deal for Scotland, probably EFTA related. That really will be slapped down most likely, but it's also more than probable that's the plan. Given that the Scottish Labour are still in total brexit denial and the Scottish Lib Dems are acting even more erratically. They're all for staying in the EU in England even holding a second referendum, but voted against Single Market membership in Scotland in case it encourages independence.
Make your mind up time for them soon one way or the other in Scotland. I'm looking forward to that.It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -
So today's the day we see if the SNP live by their centre left principles and raise taxes for the rich and maybe others to pay for all the extra services?
I doubt they will.
It'd be a good move IMO, but I don't believe they'll do it now that PR is their biggest concern these days.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -

Plotty plotty plotty - just the politics of posture.
The!SNP!really don't care about Scots do they - what happened to Sturgeon's statement that a new Referendum would only be held when demanded by the Scottish people? Why don't the!SNP!care about the added damagingly divisive nature of an unnecessary and oportunist Referendum, whatever the result? Why do they think that asking a reluctant population to vote again on an unsubstantiated Natland fantasy? All that on the basis of invented slavering monsters south of a currently non-existing border?
I love the words plotty plotty plotty
What happened to Sturgeon's statement ? It was in the May 2016 manifesto.!
Quote:
the Scottish Parliament should have the right to hold another referendum if there is "clear and sustained evidence" that independence has become the preferred option of a majority of the Scottish people -!OR!if there is a "significant and material" change in circumstances, such as Scotland being taken out of the EU against its will.
Emphasis mine. Scotland is being taken out of the EU against it's will/vote. Now you might be someone who fantasises regularly. But for most in Scotland this was in front of us all in plain old black and white just a few weeks before the Brexit vote.!
No one forced anyone to vote for this manifesto promise should they have disagreed. Nor the Scottish Greens come to that. But it ended up anyway with two pro indy parties having a majority in Holyrood between them. Both of whom won't accept Scotland being taken out of the EU/Single Market after that 62% voted against it.
Your reply proves the point I was making which you ignored in true charastic style.
You make it clear that SNP spin trumps the wishes of Scots regarding separation from the UK or indeed having another referendum. You justify an SNP Referendum and crow about how you have manipulated your "excuse".
The SNP don't really care about Scots, just about their obsession.Union, not Disunion

So the Commission will lead the Brexit negotiations.
Not everyone is happy, notably Guy Verhofstadt, the SNP's favourite pin-up. Presumably he has only secondary involvement now.

The move may or may not be good for the UK getting a good result for us all. The Commission has little flexibility I suspect, being mired in their own regulations, but there is no precent for Brexit so new approaches will be needed and the Commission may flounder. I suspect they will spend all their time touring Europe to get instructions.
The reduced (absent?) roll of the European. Parliament stands in contrast to the multiplicity of debates and exchanges in committees etc, in the British Parliament.Union, not Disunion

This was mentioned on Monday.
I think you need singular points of contact from both sides. Both parliaments will be able to review and ratify any proposals produced from the negotiations so they won't miss out.
Of course, if it all goes badly wrong, people in Westminster will find numerous ways of pinning the blame on Salmond and Sturgeon. We should expect nothing less from evil Westminster0 -
