Sturgeon needed an excuse for a new referendum and the Brexitards have offered her a big fat one:mad:

She doesn't need an excuse. She spends a lot of time making excuses.

She never said that a vote to stay in the EU would guarantee Scotland remaining in the UK union.

She heads a party committed to the separatist cause. She believes Scotland will be independent soon anyway, so I'm not sure why she should influence matters affecting the long term future of the Union.

I think we need the next Scottish referendum to be a choice between independence and the dismantling of the SNP. The 2 positions are incompatible.

Of course they want control of their own country. That's why the SNP exist surely! I reckon many Scottish people don't see Brussels in the same way as the English do. Many of them see the EU as a union of States working towards a better future and solving problems through co-operation. They voted against Brexit and wish to remain in the EU....can the Union hold up against this....I doubt it sadly!

That reflects my views. Certainly nothing to do with the 'hated English'. The SNP's manifesto stated that they'd hold a referendum in the case of a material change, and even cited leaving the EU against the will of the Scottish people as an example.

What I'm saying is some will ....some will not.................and the SNP will use economic arguments to fan the flames of nationalism. I fear that will tip the balance towards independence....sadly because I believe in the Union.
I think being a Brexitard and a Unionist in relation to Scottish independence is a hard sell being generous and completely contradictary being less generous! The 'take back control' argument was always going to be used against you by the SNP. The nuances will count for little I fear. Sturgeon needed an excuse for a new referendum and the Brexitards have offered her a big fat one:mad:

On the contrary I'm very comfortable with supporting the union and being a brexitard. No issue with Scotland having as many referenda as they want. No issue if they decide to leave. We'll all just deal with it same as we do with everything else.

It's very easy to support the uk because each of the parts are fairly well aligned in terms of history, language, fiscal policy, equality of opportunity, we all generally get on and it feels like a pretty good natural fit after 300 years or so. At least it does to me. Not perfect of course, still too imbalanced to the SE but that can be dealt with over time and the political will is shifting in that direction.

The EU is nowhere near that and never will be. It's at the limit of integration because the members and the electorate are moving away from more consolidation and it would take a complete reversal of thinking for the EU to actual evolve into a functioning political and fiscal union.

Btw, I'm not sure where the term 'brexitards' comes from. It's not very catchy is it?

Couldn't you use something like 'brankers', 'brunts' or 'braedophiles' instead? Trips off the tongue much easier.

You should stop using that term it's offensive and demeans you. Reducing yourself to toxic toasties level isn't a good look and you could end up with a PPR. Think Generali who got PPRed for a lot less.

I'm sticking you on ignore because your posts are starting to amount to little more than trolling.

I'd say toxic toastie is as offensive name as Brexitard.

    Unbelievable!

It's seems it's the silly season now here.

Both sides have made their opening statements and chewed them to death but until further info becomes available nobody can put any meat on the bones - on either side.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

And will remain so unfortunately. While the washing machine continues to spin at maximum revolutions. News does get stale after a while. There'll be a bigger story along soon enough. Might even be next months Italian constitutional referendum. Like Cameron the Italian PM has staked his reputation on the line, and already said that he will resign if defeated.

The next Scottish indy ref question should be simple : "Do you want to be governed by Westminster or Brussels?".

Not a question that can be asked though. As there's no certainty. Nor will there will be until Scotland is independent. The SNP could always backtrack on EU membership itself. As is secondary to their primary goal. All we are witnessing now possibly is a smokescreen. There's something to ponder on these dark nights.

... or may be tomorrow's verdict on whether or not May has to seek parliamentary approval before triggering Article 50
It'll go to appeal whatever the verdict but could still cause some friction.
